Online Bible Study Tools

I did not post this in Doctrinal because those folks don't need any help. :)

What online study tools do you recommend? Which ones do you use? Not just about Bible verse....logic and reasoning tools, too, seems to be a need here sometimes.

I primarily use www.blueletterbible.com for scriptures, concordance and commentary. If I'm interested in something in particular, like the Dead Sea Scrolls or the Nag Hammadi scrolls I Google those and have not a few bookmarks on them.

http://www.zhubert.com

That's the best source I've seen to date for working the Bible in the Greek and Hebrew.

I also am a big fan (as you know) of looking at the early Church fathers -- not so much to teach new doctrine, but to gain an understanding of what Christianity thought on a particular subject in the early centuries.

Two good sites that I use frequently for that:

1. http://www.ccel.org

2. http://www.newadvent.org/fathers

Another interesting site is the "Net Bible" -- which is a wiki-style collaborative translation being developed online:

http://www.bible.org/netbible/index.htm

Hope that helps...

Cool! Thanks, Mark!

I have also gotten interested more in the history of Christianity and religion/beliefs since getting out of TWI. That's why, I think, the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Nag Hammadi Scrolls are so interesting to me. I'm also looking forward to that Discovery show coming up on the "missing book" of Judas.

I think I might get lost in those links you provided sometime today. :P Thank you.

I really like www.crosswalk.com it has a lot of different translations, study sessions for men , women, about kids etc. They bring a lot to the table for people with inspirationals and study tools.

When I used to work in an the accounting office, on my breaks, I would go there to do research for my teachings. It was great because I didn't have to cart all those books around.

Have fun,

djs

George, you left out www.Snopes.com :biglaugh:

Imagine, Tom! Word over the World could be a - gasp - reality! :wink2: And affordable since it's all online.

Goey, thank you so much! Those look awesome! I'm especially interested in the Christian Classics link. Can't wait to go there. :)

djs, I forgot about Crosswalk. Thanks!

George, I forgot to mention...I've been reading "Why People Believe Weird Things" written by one of the guys who founded Skeptic.com and the magazine. I've really enjoyed it and love how he explains the logic part of it in terms this dummy can understand.

I would highly suggest the logic sites as a a good starting point for anyoine wanting to do biblical studies. Not because logic is the end all, but to avoid the traps of logical fallacy that many fall into when doing "biblical research".
