No, you cannot see the canals on Mars in binoculars, because there aren't any. :)--> You need a good telescope at least 90mm in diameter to see any of the features on the Martian disk.
If you see the picture I took of Saturn to the left, under my name, Mars will get to be about that big--in a telescope at 48x. If you just look up at it, it will be a very bright red "star" in the southeast sky at about 10pm local or so. Can't miss it, there's nothing even close to it that is that bright or that red.
You can go out tonight and see it if you don't want to wait. To the naked eye, it won't get any bigger than it is tonight, although it will get a little brighter over the next 2 weeks.

Yep. I haven't had a good night to take the scope out, though. I'll take some pics when I get the chance.

Please do, Zix.
Hey, is it true that you can see the canals with a set of binochs?
I also read that Mars will be largest in the sky around the end of the month.
Do you know how "large" it's gonna get?

Mars is related to warfare -- I am expecting (and already experiencing) increased spiritual warfare.
A nice thing is that Aug 27 is new moon -- when the demons are at their weakest -- a good time for fighting.
Hopefully,
