Old Way Tapes

The following is a list of old Way Production cassette tapes I still have. (I "never" listen to them so I don't know what kind of condition they are in any more, but I'm going to go ahead and convert them over to CDs just to preserve them.)

Some of them are just copies, so I don't have the date of production, etc. I also don't know the history of some of these groups... who was in them. Where did they form? How long did they play together? Were they way-made or home-grown?

I would really appreciate it if any of you could tell me about these tapes and groups. (like, does anyone know what kids they used for the Kid's Sing-Along the Way tape?)

New Horizons --- New Horizons --- 1982 Way-made, R&B vocal quartet (were WOWs together in Chicago)

Acts 29 --- Bob Stanley --- 1983 Way-made, various styles (I like his Little Richard-like stuff)

It’s Hot --- Acts 29 --- 1985 More 80's rock and roll-ish to appeal to teens at the time.

Called Out was a great group of musicians from the 11th Corps who got together at Emporia.

Pressed Down, Shaken Together, and Running Over consisted of Joe Fair, Paul Cuoco (cutie), and Ralph Graham ... they were awesome, too!

I know the others, too, but I'm sleepy and I must nap before suppertime!

I think that twi did have some very talanted musical people at one point in time.

AFAIK,

ALL the tapes you mentioned were carried in the twi Bookstore.

There WERE many musicians that WEREN'T, and you could find much of THEIR work

by walking around an ROA and keeping your ears open for recorded music

(and your eyes for people circling an area.)

"Love Always" was a NY Way Productions album, and saw a lot of play and "covers"

in NY.

The band "Breakthrough" started out with the song and album "Breakthrough",

which listed the credits as "Southern California Way Productions".

Their first album was soft rock.

"A Thought Away" was harder, as was "On Track"-which came out around 1989 and was

NEVER carried in the twi bookstore.

"Acts 29" was listed as a "B*b Stan1ey" album.

It was soft rock, and included a song by the name "Acts 29".

It's sequel, "Ready for Anything"

included a song called "Ready for Anything"

and was credited as "Bo* S1anley and Acts 29".

It wasn't a great song, but VERY catchy and I still like the chorus.

"It's Hot" was "Acts 29"'s third album, and was probably their best.

The title song was how exciting things were at local meetings and people getting blessed.

(It had a GREAT guitar riff, for those who like guitar riffs.)

"God First" was their fourth.

It had a few songs I really like,

and a few songs that were twi commercials.

It had fewer songs than "It's Hot" did.

I think they released one in the 90s, but if so, I know NOTHING about it.

(A lot of people got off their duffs in 1989-1990 and produced teachings and songs and all

kinds of stuff when they left and no longer could count on an organization-

which is why I count that year as the most "PROSPEROUS" ministry year of the 80s.)

Branded was the Country/Western group.

The humour tape was a complilation. There was a "show" called "High Country Caravan" that basically

was a public-access-level showcase. Occasionally there was something about God, but usually it

was just entertainment, but entertainment put out by twi, which means it was the GREATEST

entertainment...

That tape was a compilation of all the comedy skits from the "Circuit Rider".

lcm proved once again that he had to be the center of attention again by appearing

on it and saying some lame jokes.

That leaves "Spark in the Dark" of the tapes I know.

Billy was in NY Way Productions, and this was a tape of his stuff.

It was rock, and I really liked this one.

Billy later released "Power Windows" commercially, which got commercial airplay

and had at least one music video.

Golly HiWay..where's your "Miles of Smiles" tape by Bev & Steve Str!ck?? I still play that tape now & then..musta made VP crazy with some of the off da Word lyrics in THAT tape..circa around l975 ish??But still fun & peaceful tunes.as I can still picture Bev playing her flute!! LOL

How does one convert them to CD?

I'm not up on the computer stuff.

How do you convert cassette tapes to CDs?

I don't know if there is a better way to do this, but this is my way:

You connect the earphone jack on your cassette tape player to the microphone jack on your computer. (I just use the connector cord that came with my camcorder and ignore the video plug, but I'm sure Radio Shack or some such place could get you the right connector.)

I have software (which you can get free on the internet... its called Goldwave) which will record the audio as a WAV or MP3 file. It will also let me "clean up" the track -- a little -- if there are pops and hisses on it.

I then use Roxio CD burner software, which came with my computer (I'm sure you could also find freeware of this type on the internet) to burn it back to a music CD.

The whole process is a bit time-consuming but very easy.

The other way you could do it if you dont want to tie up the computer is to use a home cd recorder. I use the Sony CD duplicator plug the your cassette recorder into the in jacks hit play on the tape and record on the CD recorder. To clean up the tape you can use a sound processer between the deck and Cd.

Ken Mckaw, Dave Garibaldi, Skip Misquite and others. Kind of a Takit side project. The song "military Man" always cracked me up, with its synth helicopter intro. Vietnam songs were very big at the time.

This was a dreadful album of VPW reading "love" letters. I don't really remember what they were about but I seem to think they were at least in part letters from VP to God or Christ.

Music from Love Letters was the horrible background music instrumental version. We were told to SIT to it. GAG.

Where is T BurXe "Many Ways" on this List? SOme really un PC stuff on that record.

Also Joyful Noise. Anyone remember or witness "We're On God's Team?" Claudette and co. in cheerleader uniforms. haha.

Also I was recently thinking of a St**v*ie K cassette that TWI denounced because it was about astrology or something. "Written in the Stars"

We discussed that a while back when someone asked for the lyrics to his spoof of

"Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys".

Seems he doesn't perform songs off that album anymore.

This makes sense, as my guess was that he wanted to distance himself from his own

personal list of "stupid things I did in twi".

I do wonder if he performs stuff off "A Fistful of Scriptures", however.
