We've got quite a bit of talent on here. I'm a much better stage hand than writer or performer, so I'll just keep y'all plied with mint juleps when Oenphile goes on break. :D-->
Recorded in New York City 11/14/62 Allegdly written on the taxi ride to Columbia Studios. Dylan's first band session alao became his first single. At the time he was a folk artist with a mind wandering toward Elvis Presley and Sun records. It was thought to have been a experiment that failed. The 45 was withdrawn, and so were any attempts at rock for the time being. It appears only on the Biograph 3 CD set.
Here is one of my picks Classic tongue in cheek Dylan. I always wanted to send a disk of it as my response to that insulting letter of loyality that Craig sent out to the Corps. But I thought better at the time.
Ps -- if you record this -- it would be nice to have an acapella group do a *bridge*, right before chorus three -- in the old traditiional way of that tune! :D-->
THE CLUB OF CONFUSION
BY: THE GREASE BAND
Verse One:
Pardon Us For This, Our Awful Intrusion.
But We Were Once In A State, Of Utter Delusion.
Feeling our Life Was Just An Allusion,
We See Now It Was just, Our Mixed Up Confusion.
We’ve Been Bruised And Now Have A Contusion.
Though We Won't Let That Become An Illusion.
You May Think We've Been An Obnoxious Protrusion.
Though We Did Our Best, We’re Testing The Rest.
We’re Through With Just Perusing.
Chorus One:
You Can Let It All Hang Out At The Club Of Confusion
David Fiddles Blue Grass Ala Prochaine Wails Jazz Fusion
Moony's Group Is Getting Better So There's No Escusin'
Biker Babe Rev's Up Her Harley At The Club Of Confusion
Verse Two:
Some may wonder why we're happy, with all that bad losing.
Now living free we’ve removed, all that painful bruising.
Both removing and healing it all, because we do the choosin'.
We ain't cryin' in our beer we just like to do some (hic!) boozin'.
So pull up that chair, plunk down your a$$.
We've got the bottle, if you've got the glass.
Old stories when told of one's past confusion,
When plied with libation, lead to serious musing.
Chorus Two:
David picks on the fiddle, and Ala sings Jazz
There's a dancer on stage (her name is Shaz).
Serving the drinks, that make you all smile
Is the sommelier himself - Oenophile
All respect the bouncer, (though some cut and run),
It's Shellon herself, and she's got a gun.
And where did the dollars go, from that tip bucket?
Well -- everyone's guessing -- that Pawtucket.
(sung by a choir) acapella: hummmmmm, hummmmmm, hummmmmm
We’ve a stow-ry to tell to the naaaayyyy - shuns,
That we once thought we were right.
But day by day, we realized,
Our day was turned to night.
But the darkness shall turn into dawning,
And dawning to noon-day bright
And as we leave, we will not grieve,
And we won't quit the fight.
Chorus Three -- (back to the original tune):
Ted is up there on the stage, sunglasses firmly on
Mic in hand, singing loud, singing us his song.
A *joyful noise* behind him, a joyful crowd out front
At the Club of Confusion, What more could you want?!
You're alright. Like you said, you were just over-tired and punchy. Glad you got some rest. Don't worry. We love you and welcome the real you back (the other was just you're evil twin).
BTW, I'd love to hear you play sometime. Love bluegrass.
Yeah I'm still here well kinda' Sorry that i have neglected you all. Been working on a project with someone that takes up a bunch of my time but it's all well worth it. Quick as I can will tell you all about it. I think it will bless you cause it sure has and does me.
Meanwhile back at the ranch perhaps some of you would like to share some of your poetry or songs that you have put together.I would very much like to read and so would others.
Gotta' go now cause I have a phone call or two I need to make and some new tunes to write.
Sure do feel neglected by you. Sitting on pins and needles waiting to hear about this new project that's been taking up so much on your time. (Are you sure it's more important than State of Confusion?)

Ahhhh -- Ted -- I've more verses. :)-->
Not saying they are good or anything ---
Raf in the corner, trying to post
All he had witnessed of this *ungodly* host
Abigail she had so much to say,
hearing her out took most of the day.
The bicker and banter of all our confusion
was added to by ChattyKathy's preclusion
that none of us knew our own names,
But she forgot *The Song Remains The Same*

David is dong what this song is about. Keep rockin'David
Bob Dylan is not an easy read when you just look at his lyrics.
Later on tonight perhapss I can do some edit.work on meter for lines and get this baby ready for the music tracks
Yeah Belle you are hired. Mint Juleps sure would add to the mix.

Mixed up Confusion
Bob Dylan
I got mixed up confusion
Man, it's a-killin' me
Well, there's too many people
And they're all too hard to please
Well, my hat's in my hand
Babe, I'm walkin' down the line
An' I'm lookin' for a woman
Whose head's mixed up like mine
Well, my head's full of questions
My temp'rature's risin' fast
Well, I'm lookin' for some answers
But I don't know who to ask
But I'm walkin' and wonderin'
And my poor feet don't ever stop
Seein' my reflection
I'm hung over, hung down, hung up!

What was it you wanted?
What was it you wanted?
Tell me again so I'll know.
What's happening in there,
What's going on in your show.
What was it you wanted,
Could you say it again?
I'll be back in a minute
You can get it together by then.
What was it you wanted
You can tell me, I'm back,
We can start it all over
Get it back on the track,
You got my attention,
Go ahead, speak.
What was it you wanted
When you were kissing my cheek?
Was there somebody looking
When you give me that kiss
Someone there in the shadows
Someone that I might have missed?
Is there something you needed,
Something I don't understand.
What was it you wanted,
Do I have it here in my hand?
Whatever you wanted
Slipped out of my mind,
Would you remind me again
If you'd be so kind.
Has the record been breaking,
Did the needle just skip,
Is there somebody waitin',
Was there a slip of the lip?
What was it you wanted
I ain't keepin' score
Are you the same person
That was here before?
Is it something important?
Maybe not.
What was it you wanted?
Tell me again I forgot.
Whatever you wanted
What could it be
Did somebody tell you
That you could get it from me,
Is it something that comes natural
Is it easy to say,
Why do you want it,
Who are you anyway?
Is the scenery changing,
Am I getting it wrong,
Is the whole thing going backwards,
Are they playing our song?
Where were you when it started
Do you want it for free
What was it you wanted
Are you talking to me?

Omigosh!!! -- I realize now that by changing the previous *revelation* of this song, I:
A) doubted the Word (of song)
B) omitted a word (of song)
C) added a word (of song)
D) and changed the word (of song).
