Word Difficulties

My cousin keeps sending me word docs that I cannot get into, in fact it sez the file can't be found. Is this because the file name is wrong? and if it is then how do I go about finding out the correct file name?

What is the file extention? A Word document would have a *.doc at the end of the file.

Oh yeah... you do have Word on your computer, don't you?

What version is your cousing using. THere were terrible probs with Word 97. IMO it was not until Word 2000 that it starting getting more stable.

Point is, pre 2000 versions may suck in lots of ways. Even Word 2000 has updates that are critical to install. (You are updating Office regularly aren't you? If not click here: Office Updates )

Anyone using Office 2000 should have Office Service Pack 3 installed.
