Good for you, Susie! Having come from a family of alcoholics and seeing only a few of them attain sobriety, I can attest it's no easy matter. Alcoholism is truly a family disease as I'm sure you've taught your children.
I could tell back in June of '87 that things were going to change a lot. I had avoided getting sober because I knew my marriage wouldn't survive it if my husband, at the time, didn't get sober.
Things do continue to change and it's good to remember where I've come from.
reikilady, that's quite an accomplishment and i commend you! i think AA is one of the greatest organizations ever because of how it has helped me to understand the alcoholics in my family and to stop some of my insane behaviors to try to "help them." As Jardinero said, it is very much a family disease.

My sister went through AA, and considers April 10th, as her *other* birthday
(the day she stopped drinking).
Happy *Other* Birthday, Susie!! :)-->
