Pirate1974
...can a woman blow off her fancy wedding, run off across the country, change her appearance to avoid detection, set off a nationwide manhunt, cause her family to offer a $100,000 reward for her safe return, give the police a tale that even Rod Serling wouldn't dream up (including being sexually assaulted by a Hispanic man with rotten teeth), end up being hauled into court for giving a false police report and then "get on with her life" and "stay out of the public eye" by being interviewed on NBC by Katie Couric and selling the rights to her "story" for a reported half a million bucks. Is this a great country or what?
TheHighWay
Yeah... making the most of her 15 minutes of fame... that poor woman is certifiable, though... just a mess if you ask me.
Trefor Heywood
I bet she is happy being certified - all the way to the Bank.
George Aar
To Mz. Couric, NBC, and television execs in general, shame on you. This is beyond pandering to the least common denominator, well beyond...
GeorgeStGeorge
Sadly...people will read the book, people will watch the movie. The only way nonsense like this would stop is if it no longer becomes profitable. And I don't see America's sensibilities improving any time soon. :(--> George
Pirate1974
There was a time when if you did something stupid, you were embarrassed and didn't really want anybody to know about it. Now days people parade their stupidity on the national stage and get paid big money for it. That's entertainment.
