I liked some of his songs. In fact I and some other believers were going to go to his concert at Eisenhower Park on Long Island when we heard the news that he had died in an auto accident on his way to the park.
Loved his stuff... still do... saw him when I was a WOW in Mass... at Boston Garden... a nice double CD to have is "Harry Chapin, Gold and Platinum"... my favorite of his albums is "Sniper and Other Love Songs" though...
It was very early in my tractor trailer driving career, and I had a delivery in Scranton, PA. To say I was scared s***less, would be a gross understatement. Obviously, I made it home, but not without changing the underwear my mother always told me to keep clean in case I was ever in an accident.
I don't know if it ever got much (if any) radio play, but Pat Benetar did a TRIBUTE TO HARRY CHAPIN that was pretty nice. Not one of her greatest songs, but worth a listen if your a Harry Chapin fan (or Pat Benetar fan, for that matter)
