That the very first conclave lasted over two years...finally the frustrated villagers cut the food intake of the cardinals and eventually tore the roof off of the building in order to expose them to the elements. They thought this would speed up the process by making them uncomfortable. This happened in the year 1213 or 1230 or something like that..........
