No Tommy --our fearless and now vacationing leader-but I wont go into it here---gotsta keep this board somewhat pure
Im still trying to figure out if letting Palmiero have his moment in the sun (at hit 3000) before suspending him was a good or bad thing....There is a pennant at stake here Bud-- and rules is rules...
Kevin Kennedy was just on with the noon to three boys... (he's pushing a new book "Twice Around the Bases")... of course the conversation was Raffy, the clubhouse, etc because he was the manager here...
he said that when he took the job one thing he didn't want was 'entourages'... all the hangers on that clog up a clubhouse...
he was going about kicking them all out and there was one guy who was a "trainer" for Raffy, Jose and Juan... they asked him to let the guy stay because they "trained" with him here in Arlington on the outside...
I think I read that they have a better record within the division than the Red Sox (but I could be wrong)... 'Sweet Lou" usually goes ballistic at least once or twice a series when we have them...I suppose i would have to too if I were the DRays manager--but you are right --they certainly are quick....
Sox are quietly on an 8 game streak, Schilling is looking good as a closer...Good to see Matt Clement back after getting scarily bonked in the head last week...
question---How comes Delucci isn't playing more down there? I almost started drooling yesterday when I read he had a .418 OBP,--- I'd love him in the two hole
he's our DH... or at least was until Nevins got here... now when Nevins DH's, Delucci plays OF...
Because of his OBP, he's our lead off hitter, yeah... our DH is our lead off guy... he leads the majors in walks I believe...most of the time he bats one and Mike Young bats two... and G Matthews Jr bats nine (for that double lead off guy look)...
he's very well liked both in the room and by the fans... he's good in the room I hear...
No ---I know what you mean---another bonus about him
When I ran across his stats his AB's seemed low for a regular, which is why i asked...we'll be needing a leadoff hitter/ CFer over the winter I am pretty sure....Johnny D. is gonna be offered big bucks on a multiyear and will probably go...
Anyway the Twinkies tonight---at least its not a day game---flyballs in that dome in the day are an adventure---I wonder whose brilliant idea it was to make the ceiling white as a baseball
well... we're on our way to visit with your boys mstar... as good as Manny's numbers are (and they're good), have you noticed how close Teixiera's numbers are to his?
One of the things I find strange is that in the last couple of years, the way Tex has been hitting, people have almost forgotten about Blalock...
Ive been saying all along that I like those stRangers, you guys have got some hitters. Blalock/Soriano/Mench/Young--and I know Texiera is right up there----I just get amazed because I see my guy (Manny)every day but I'd probably be equally raving about Texiera if he were here...
I'd love to have your whole infield ---
Sox managed to luck out with 1 out of 3 against the Twins this weekend after playing like little leaguers, and not even good little leaguers on Friday and Saturday..Its strange how that happens from time to time over a season-where even good teams go in collective brain freeze for a few days--and nothing is right----
It happens----thats the way life is I guess-you can't and dont win em all and sometimes thing really screw up-- but I hope at it is out of their system and this next series will be well played...
Now... if we could just get the stRanger fielders matched with the BoSox pitchers (well, maybe we'd keep Coco Cordero and Johnny D in there)... it'd be a series win for sure!
I dont know the pitching hasn't been anything to write home about this year, Martinez and Lowe are gone, Schilling has been out most of the year(although he is doing OK as a closer), Foulke was having a horrible year as a closer, and the bullpen has mostly been like swiss cheese.
Sox pitchers job is to keep the game close and then let the bats score runs. Sometimes they keep it close, sometimes they don't. If there are defensive breakdowns--its usually not good...
It would be an interesting experiment to see what would happen...maybe in a fantasy league.....
Alex Cora and Cesar Isturis, we're the best 2nd base shorstop combo in baseball last year.
It was ome of the true gems that the Dodgers had that was dismantled by the Boston parking Lot attendant. But hey, it's only defense right.
The Dodgers have Jeff Kent for a year or two, and he is a wizard with the bat, but should really be playing first base, instead of taking Cora;s place at second. Among the other Dodger problems, it's been interesting to watch booted balls, double plays that don't get executed, and a general disarray in the infield.
With the Sox line up-there is plenty of room for an Alex Cora. I suggest you take a second look at this 'utility player'.
Yea I know--yesterday was a tough day for me... major distractions and obstacles...never mind a few beers when I posted that
I know these guys are good, and theyve been doing well..They are all important parts of the puzzle--If I learned anything last year, it is that it takes every one of 25 guys.
Its actually a good move by Francona to get them playing time, keep everyone sharp, have them figure out their spots and roles and to figure out the lineup for the stretch I suppose...
It was a just little disconcerting at first to see half the lineup alterred and the old familiars out... but that doesn't make it a bad thing.
There is a lesson in there somewhere, I had some changes to make yesterday that i was resistant to. Nothing ever stays the same-- I will take a second look.
I see your boys are up 2-1 in the top of the fifth... but that can change in a second with Benoit... or he could hold you hitless the rest of the night... :D-->
He has some pretty awesome stuff, just no command... Orel's working with 'em... but I think he's running out of patience...
Clement looks none the worse for wear... fortunately...
We picked up another few today to shore up the bullpen Ricky Bottalico and Mike Remlinger, who I once played catch with when he was about little league age and lived down the street from my sister.
2-2 in the fifth, with another unearned run which makes about 11 in the last 4 or 5 games--
time to shore up the defense, which has been lapsing--

Dont scare me like that Bolsh--the way you posted I wasnt sure if it was a done deal--I had to go check....Im on the fence whether to go for Halliday or not---I'd love to have him but I'd hate to give

I love those fan trades where players you don't care about, plus a 'prospect', are offered up for a major player. Yeah, the Jays will jump at that deal.

speaking of infields we are going with the immortals
Alex Cora at short, Tony Graffanino at 2nd and Roberto Petagine at 1st
who? who? and Who?
three utility guys....pfft---i have nothing against them but i hope some guys get off the DL soon
On the plus Manny is hitting .583 3 HR's 11 RBI in 6 games since the deadline

...he was out of the baseline!
...speaking of Papi, I bet he's glad the Manny's in the lineup daily now!
Like the sign said "Just another Manny Monday"
(don't tell me the score, I'm about 15 minutes behind)
Gee... what a pitcher's duel!
