Yea of course ex that'll work

I'll pop over there in a second

I just caught this

So the Dodger-Sox game at the Coliseum sold out 90000 plus seats in less than an hour.

and wanted to welcome Hiway to the wonderful world of getting Sox tickets.

I know this a special event but it is an exhibition game.

Its insane

good luck on getting tickets (I have to wonder how many of those tickets found there way to the ticket brokers who will jack the prices about 10 times face value) of course sitting home listening to Vin could be just as memorable

As popular as the Sox are , this game was sold out on the strength of the 50 year anniversary of the Dodgers in LA. They could have been playing the Cub scouts and sold out that fast.

Not that anyone isn't happy to see the Red Sox come to town-it's just that this game isn't about that.

Yea I know its very special thing on ots own. (although I do know of quite a few sox fans making the trip (and Im sure clogging the ticket lines a little).

I was just pointing out the way it always is around here.

I hope they do the 50th anniversary year up right and it is memorable for you. It really could be....and should be

Dr. Steinberg, the PR guy who the Dodgers hired from the Sox walked a fine line, sometimes doing really great things and sometimes going too overboard. i hope its good there is a heckuva lot of great history to the Dodgers that could be woven into the year.

I'll send my requests to Baseball Jesus for you Tom.

The one great thing about baseball is that no one knows what is going to happen-at this point everyone is even-and anything can happen

I remember you were very optimistic last year at this time

I'm sorry to inform you but as we all know (and maybe mstar forgot) the Texas stRangers will go to and win the world series this year...

That had to have been a letdown ---maybe you were just off by a year.

Who is going to be the surprise team this year??

I found out that I may be going to the Coliseum game after all. I'll believe it when the tickets are in my hand. They're from a season ticket holder who has excellent regular season seats, so I'm assuming that I won't need binoculars from right field.

I then realized that the season opens the following Monday, and I've got Dodgers-Giants tickets for that Wednesday !

In further good news,I thought I was facing a layoff at work in March, and was given a reprieve on a project that will last for 2 years.

Springtime, a steady job, and best of all baseball-someone hit me if I ever start complaining.

Phineas and Ferb?? :) cool

Ive never seen it but I do like cartoons-and I'll definitely watch out for it. Who/what do you draw?

my friends grandchildren will be in awe when i tell them...Im gonna watch for them :)

I think we need a Phineas and Ferb go to the ballpark episode....

.......the rest of my tickets came in the mail yesterday from the Red Sox, I now have a pretty good stack, ive been fanning them out, gazing on them and generally feeling like a kid who just walked out of the candy store with a dream come true of a whole dollars worth of penny candy.

I don't really connect myself with 'Phineas and Ferb' as yet, since I didn't work on the first season, which is now airing, and I won't be starting on it for a few months yet.

The show I've been most involved and 'identify' myself with is Kim Possible, where I did layouts and designed backgrounds for all 4 seasons. There are other shows in my 'resume', but I'm not here to talk about my so called career.I appreciate the interest though.

I was reading this morning where the left field in the Coliseum was 250 ft plus the 45 ft net. Only for this game , with new seats, left field will be 200 ft ! I think I could have reached that in Little League. I see alot of balls going off the net. I wonder what kind of bounce the ball will take off it, and how will the fielders know how to play it ? I'm really hoping for a ball over the right fielders head, where he has to chase it down.

yes... hope springs eternal... last year's prediction was based upon "the Buck effect"... sadly, even the stRangers broke that pattern.

I haven't lost faith in the players, I haven't lost faith in the game or the boy GM... I've lost faith in the owner. He's about as popular around here as Art Modell is in Cleveland... and he gets about the same amount of respect. (he's earned it, believe me... and seems to have reached that status in Liverpool as well)

I was listening to the press conference yesterday and all I could think about was how much the rest of MLB must be just sitting there laughing and shaking their heads.

But at this point anything that adds insulation between Hicks and the team is a positive. We don't mind that Hicks is all about the money- that's fine, make some- but we'd also like him to be about the winning... and he's not. And with all of the development taking place around the ballpark (Jerryworld is being built right next door) he'll hold out for a boatload... probably even more than Cuban is willing to spend.

As for Nolan coming aboard... most feel it's just a PR thing but then we're pretty jaded (could you tell?)... he's been pretty successful since retirement but I don't know what skills he brings to the "management side" other than an acute ability to track wild spider monkeys...

...but hope springs eternal and time begins on opening day.

200 feet???

wheres that old smiley with his eyes bugging out?

That puts the leftfielder basically about 50- 60 feet, if that, behind shortstop.

:biglaugh:

I hope it doesnt screw up anyones swing

should be blast to watch though...

whats RF ... about 920?

:biglaugh:

What was that you said on the previous page.... about not knowing what's going to happen. I just read that Schilling's got a major shoulder problem that will probably end his career without him throwing another pitch in a big league game. And the comments on the article at azcentral.com are none too kind for the Major League Mouth Mr. Schilling has... and that the BoSox maybe should have been more aggressive in going after Santana.

Yea he was given an extension, there are conflicting reports right now that the Red Sox have tried to nullify the contract. I dont know if that will happen or not or if it is just hearsay. Im leaning toward hearsay

Its too bad, I always liked Curt, no matter what anyone thinks of his politics, he was more than talk and put his body and career on the line when it really mattered taking a huge risk in legendary fashion sacrificing himself for the team and has never been the same pitcher since.

Whatever happens in all this I wish him well--and a speedy recovery.

Do you have a link or quotes I couldnt get past the registration..

The Santana thing is a nonissue. The RS still have 6, maybe 7 starters even without Curt and there are also upwards of 25 free agent pitchers available if needed, never mind another 2 or 3 in AA and AAA There are plenty of contingency plans that could happen in short order that could make up for his innings and 9 wins of last year.

Its disappointing. yes, but hardly backbreaking.

i would like to see what 'none too kind' things some writer 3000 miles away has to say and whether they are worth heeding or are as substantial as his baseball analysis

Injury could end Schilling's career

As to the registration at azcentral.com I just tell them I'm a 102 year old female from California... they really don't care... I usually stop there at other news sites, but with azcentral.com, I have to read them...

I would think that he's probably earned a "pass" from the fans (BoSox and others)... I know that I've got no problem with it... at least as long as he knew nothing about it when he signed the extension...

I'm hearing that the BoSox specialist thinks he can just do rehab and maybe pitch later this year, and that Curt is willing to try that...but that another specialist has said "surgery".

That's the game you play in MLB... they've got guaranteed contracts.

There are apparently at least three differences of opinion. At least one Doctor is saying he will never pitch again, another says surgery and he will back by the AllStar Break another one is saying rest and rehab will get him back.

He missed about 2 months last year but He pitched well down the stretch and in the playoffs. Apparently the physical before the contract signing looked OK but they dont always tell the whole story.

He gets a pass from me (He came to win a World Series here and won two--yea he gets an eternal pass )

but even then still I know if I plunked down 8 million on that arm I would want some say in the matter. Im sure that their is alot of legal and contractual issues inolved as well

The RedSox and their team of doctors as of now are going with the rest and rehab route.

The management has been very careful and aware with their handling of pitchers for the last several years, much more so than in the past. For the most part it has worked out hopefully this will as well

Today was an unoffical holiday in New England

"Truck Day" is the day that the equipment truck is loaded at Fenway and starts the trek to Florida for spring training. Its fairly exciting around these parts, like the fi9rst sign of spring

Baseball is finally getting very close.

There are about 100 pictures in the papers ---I like this one--nobody seems to know how this got mixed in with the Red Sox stuff--there might have been a little bit of confusion or something( ehh drunkenness maybe...) after the last game that was played and the equipment packed away..

lets play some baseball
