I found it strange that Music Man and Oklahoma were left off the list.

I missed it... was watching baseball... but "Flashdance" at number 55? I'd be P.O.'d if I was in numbers 56-100!

But, it's a pretty good list... when are they gonna run out of "lists"? ...they keep dreaming them up to make new shows... kind of like "awards"...

I think the real ones to be p-o'd are whoever lost to Eminem by being 94-100. Oy.

I found it interesting that they counted music that was written for other purposes and later incorporated into a movie. That's how "Unchained Melody" by the Righteous Brothers got in, even though it was written years before Ghost came out.

The Oscars only count songs written specifically for a particular movie (which is why Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You, a remake, was not qualified to be nominated).

But if you use that same standard for the AFI list, "As Time Goes By" from Casablanca would have not made the list, and we all know it deserved to make that list.

I thought it was interesting that they mentioned that “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend,” was used in "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" and "Moulin Rouge," but they didn't mention that "Singin' In The Rain" turned up in "A Clockwork Orange."

I wonder why?
