But your only partially right Wasway. It was Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz, bass player and drumer for the Talking heads that formed Tom Tom Club. (They were also husband and wife).
They did it as a side gig while still with TH. David Byrne had nothing to do with it.
Ira Hayes (excuse the spelling) by Johnny Cash (I grew up listening to this - and I'm probably the only 30-something who's into Johnny Horton, as a result of this...) (Parents can be a bad influence sometimes...)
Yeah, that is an old Leadbelly tune but your probably referring to the remake done by a group called Ram Jam. Can't think of anything else they ever did other than Black Betty.
