This thread must include the singers or the bands name with the title. A cover band or artist, waysider, is alright as long as it has received some play time on a mainstream radio station. You know like, ~Pearl Jams~ version of "Last Kiss" originally recorded by Wayne Cochran in 1961.

I've got the title, I'm not coming up with a complete name of the artist yet. Gary or Gerry? I don't know. He was solo artist.
He was primarily a solo artist, but also cowrote and sang on a hit single for another singing group. At least 3 or 4 members of that group went on to celebrity status.

Okay Barry, then, "Eve of Destruction". Maguire. Barry Maguire. I'm not sure of the group's name. I have it on a CD called "The Spirit of the Sixties".  It's a really terrific CD with some of greatest 60's songs on it.
"Paint your palette blue and gray Look out on a summer's day With eyes that know the darkness in my soul
Shadows on the hills Sketch the trees and the daffodils Catch the breeze and the winter chills In colors on the snowy linen land
Now, I understand, what you tried to say to me And how you suffered for your sanity And how you tried to set them free They would not listen, they did not know how Perhaps they'll listen now
"Colors changing hue Morning fields of amber grain Weathered faces lined in pain Are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand
Now I understand What you tried to say to me And how you suffered for your sanity And how you tried to set them free
Portraits hung in empty halls Frameless heads on nameless walls With eyes that watch the world and can't forget
Like the strangers that you've met The ragged men in ragged clothes The silver thorn of bloody rose Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow
Now, I think I know what you tried to say to me And how you suffered for your sanity And how you tried to set them free They would not listen, they're not listening still Perhaps they never will
Johnny's in the basement mixin' up the medicine
I'm on the pavement, thinkin' about the government
The man in the trench coat, badge out, laid off
Says he's got a bad cough, wants to get it paid off

Don't know the title but then I never did like the stones to much. unless it was covered by Flying Burrito brothers also which would make it dead flowers but I think that's another song.

Thanks. I haven't been a regular player here for quite some time.
It's Edie Birkell and New Bohemians.

I can "hear" this one, but I'm not getting the title. I'd like to say, "It's the End of the World," but I'm pretty sure that's not it.

You are correct, sir. The group was called The New Christy Minstrels. Among the members were Glen Campbell, John Denver, Kenny Rogers and Kim Carnes.

Next song:
"Portraits hung in empty halls
Frameless heads on nameless walls
With eyes that watch the world and can't forget
Like the strangers that you've met
The ragged men in ragged clothes
The silver thorn of bloody rose
Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow"

"She wanted truth
But all she got was lies
Came the time to realize
And it was too late
She didn't know what she was headed for
And when I found what she was headed for
Mama, it was too late
It's too late
She's gone too far
She's lost the sun"
