She didn't know what she was headed for
And when I found what she was headed for
It was too late
She found a mountain that was far too high
And when she found out she couldn't fly
It was too late
It's too late
She's gone too far
She's lost the sun
She wanted truth
But all she got was lies
Came the time to realize
And it was too late
Too many mountains, and not enough stairs to climb
Too many churches and not enough truth
Too many people and not enough eyes to see
Too many lives to lead and not enough time
It's too late
She's gone too far
She's lost the sun
Apparently, that was by the Guess Who. I have trouble telling a lot of groups apart. I assume it's my turn (performer notwithstanding), so (this should be easy):
The mood is right
The spirit's up
We're here tonight
And that's enough
You can shine your shoes and wear a suit
You can comb your hair and look quite cute
You can hide your face behind a smile
One thing you can't hide
Is when you're [song title]
You can wear a mask and paint your face
You can call yourself the human race
You can wear a collar and a tie
One thing you can't hide
Is when you're {song title]
Well now you know that your
Cat has nine lives
Nine lives to itself
But you only got one
And a dog's life ain't fun
Momma take a look outside
You can go to church and sing a hymn
You can judge me by the color of my skin
You can live a lie until you die
One thing you can't hide
Is when you're [song title]
Hard to say. These days of satellite radio and stations dedicated to all sorts of genres, hard to say anything did not get airplay.
Billboard says it peaked at number 40, which indicates SOME airplay but certainly not ubiquitous dominance (a word combo I am unlikely to write again ever).
It apparently did very well in Dance Clubs in the US as well (number 3. Wow).
SO anyway, new song:
There were moments of gold and there were flashes of light There were things we'd never do again, but then they'd always seemed right There were nights of endless pleasure; it was more than all your laws allow

It was played on album oriented stations so that counts. I remember it I just can't think of the song right now

Don't know the title but then I never did like the stones to much. unless it was covered by Flying Burrito brothers also which would make it dead flowers but I think that's another song.

It's nagging me in the back of my brain. I really should know it.

You're right George. You should know it. Maybe if you guess who the group is it may help you.

Hint:Â "Maybe if you Guess Who", I already gave it to you.
I believe the clue you are giving sounds to me like Paul McCartney's "Wonderful Christmastime"
Is that it?

Here's a sng that SHOULD have won the Oscar for Best Original Song but was beaten by one that did not even deserve to be nominated.
I've learned to be ashamed of all my scars.
'Run away,' they say, 'No one will love you as you are.'
But I won't let them break me down to dust.
I know that there's a place for us.
For we are glorious.

And I'm marching on to the beat I drum
I'm not scared to be seen
I make no apology...

Ok, I won't drag it out.Â
From Oscars 2019, "This Is Me" from The Greatest Showman.
I am going to go all in and call this the best Oscars song performance of this century, at least.

Jim Steinman wrote it, but it wasn't a Meatloaf song- which is why it sounds like a Meatloaf song anyway.
Celine Dion, singing "IT'S ALL COMING BACK TO ME NOW."
Â
There's a bit of irony in how long it took to come back to me now.

And Meat Loaf DID cover it.
But the famous version is by Celine Dion.
