When I first saw the lyrics to the song you posted Nathan_Jr, I remember thinking this sounds like it could be ~The Kinks~. That's all I've got. It isn't Plastic Man, Well Respected Man, so really I've got nothing.
You don't have to post that big a quote in the first try. Some of us can get that from a MUCH smaller quote.
This is the Grateful Dead's "TOUCH OF GREY", off of "In The Dark", which was probably their biggest commercial success in terms of album sales or hit singles.
Nah. It was on off-the-cuff spoken line. But you (and I) tend to use seasonal songs.
"Just because you've become a young woman now,
There's still some things that you don't understand now.
Before you ask some guy for his hand now,
Keep your freedom for as long as you can now."

Next tune:
I was a lonely soul
I had nobody till I met you
But you, keeping me waiting
All of the time, what can I do?
It's your life
And you can do what you want
Do what you like
But please don't keep me waiting
Please don't keep me waiting
I may have ran into a stand still because with the exception of those same lines repeated, the only other verses have the name of the tune in them. Ideas?
Let's just go in another direction. New song: If interested the last song was ~The Kinks~ Tired of Waiting
i don't care if you hurt me some more
i don't care if you even the score
you can knock me and i don't care
you can mock me and i don't care
you can rock me just about anywhere
i don't care if you hurt me some more
i don't care if you even the score
you can knock me and i don't care
you can mock me and i don't care
you can rock me just about anywhere
i don't care if you use me again
i don't care if you abuse me again
you can make me i don't care
you can bump me i don't care
you can love me just about anywhere
it's alright
I hear the drums echoing tonight
But she hears only whispers of some quiet conversation
She's coming in 12: 30 flight
The moonlit wings reflect the stars that guide me towards salvation
I stopped an old man along the way
Hoping to find some old forgotten words or ancient melodies
"When I left my home and my family
I was no more than a boy.
In the company of strangers
In the quiet of a railway station
Running scared.
Laying low, seeking out the poorer quarters
Where the ragged people go
Looking for the places only they would know."

It was played on album oriented stations so that counts. I remember it I just can't think of the song right now

Don't know the title but then I never did like the stones to much. unless it was covered by Flying Burrito brothers also which would make it dead flowers but I think that's another song.

Once beneath the stars, the universe was ours. Love was all we knew, and all I knew was you. I wonder where you are, I wonder if you think about me Once upon a time, IN YOUR WILDEST DREAMS. It mig

It must be getting early
Clocks are running late
Paint by numbers morning sky
Looks so phony
Dawn is breaking everywhere
Light a candle, curse the glare
Draw the curtains, I don't care
'Cause it's alright
I will get by
I will get by
I will get by
I will survive
I see you got your list out
Say your piece and get out
Yes, I get the gist of it
But it's alright

Correct song AND correct artist! Smokey Robinson's version had the lyrics from a man's viewpoint. Well done.

I was going to guess "It's My Life" by the Animals, but that's obviously not it.

Played the album "Best of Simon and Garfunkel" yesterday. They're probably in my top three favorite American groups/artists. The Boxer.
