Let me take the round then.   Gordon Lightfoot's "If You Could Read My Mind" reached # 1 in Canada's singles chart in 1970.  It reached # 5 in U.S. Billboard top 100 and reached #30 in U.S. singles.  It reached # 1 in U.S. Easy Listening (billboard).  I never expected for this not be guessed, but currently it is just a couple of us playing in this thread.

Melinda was mine 'til the time
That I found her
Holding Jim
And loving him
Then Sue came along, loved me strong
That's what I thought
Ya, me and Sue
But that died too

I've had it to here
Bein' where love's a small word
Part-time thing
Paper ring
I know it's been done
Havin' one girl who'll loves you
Right or wrong
Weak or strong

Not familiar with that one.  He recorded a lot of good songs after AM&J, but none that received significant airplay (at least not in my neighborhoods).

George

Perhaps that one got a lot more airplay over the New York streets.

Again, sorry, I cleared up some memory on my computer and by doing so, I couldn't log back in automatically and it took some time to find my way back in.  So, tune, tune, tune, oh, oh, oh okay.

"Shadows of a golden age
A generation waits for dawn
Brave carry on
Bold and the strong"

Another night in any town
You can hear the thunder of their cry
Ahead of their time
They wonder why

"Shadows of a golden age
A generation waits for dawn
Brave carry on
Bold and the strong"

Title of the song
They're free to fly away
Sharing the same desire
Burnin' like wildfire

They're seein' through the promises
And all the lies they dare to tell
Is it heaven or hell?
They know very well

Think Madonna

It's just "Faithfully", yes by Journey.  The other Journey song before, with the Madonna comment I made, was a song from the soundtrack of the Matthew Modine, Linda Fiorentino movie "Vision Quest" song titled "Only the Young" but if you had seen the movie you would probably recognize Madonna doing a cameo, singing in a restaurant/ bar "Crazy For You".  She was relatively unknown at the time in 1983, having only released her first album.

You're up WordWolf.

"I can pull a rabbit out of a hat,disappear and return like...that."

"Tricks with cards, are easy to do. And tricks with hearts will cast a spell on you."

"I will stop your frowns, and turn them upside down, 'cause I'll be around, to hold ya near.
If your heart is broken, bring it to me.  With a wave, I'll mend it, ooo, you'll see baby."

"On stage and lights, I'll dazzle your eyes, and later on that night, I'll make you realize"

Ok  changing songs.  I'm surprised this song isn't better-known. I know it got plenty of airplay.

Moving on.

============================

"  "Come on home, girl" mama cried on the phone. "Too soon to lose my baby yet, my girl should be at home!"  "

~  Heart~  Magic Man  100%

"And I fell asleep and dreamed
I dreamed I was in a Hollywood movie
And that I was the star of the movie
This really blew my mind, the fact that me,
an overfed, long-haired leaping gnome
should be the star of a Hollywood movie"
