What's all these crazy questions they're asking me? "Mama Told Me Not to Come" TDN
George do you want to go again? I know you said that you were thinking this was Songs remembered from just one line. So if you want to go ahead and take another turn it's alright with me.
He blesses the boys as they stand in line
The smell of gun grease and their bayonets they shine
He's there to help them all that he can
To make them feel wanted he's a good holy man
You're soldiers of God you must understand
The fate of your country is in your young hands
May God give you strength do your job real well
If it all was worth it only time it will tell
He blesses the boys as they stand in line
The smell of gun grease and their bayonets they shine
He's there to help them all that he can
To make them feel wanted he's a good holy man
Â
He smiles at the young soldiers tells them it's all right He knows of their fear in the forthcoming fight Soon there'll be blood and many will die Mothers and fathers back home they will cry.
Â
You're soldiers of God you must understand

Â
He smiles at the young soldiers tells them it's all right He knows of their fear in the forthcoming fight Soon there'll be blood and many will die Mothers and fathers back home they will cry.
Â
He mumbles a prayer and it ends with a smile The order is given They move down the line But he's still behind and he'll meditate But it won't stop the bleeding or ease the hate
Â
As the young men move out into the battle zone He feels good, with God you're never alone He feels tired and he lays on his bed Hopes the men will find courage in the words that he said.
Â
You're soldiers of God you must understand
The fate of your country is in your young hands
May God give you strength do your job real well

That must be about the whole song by now. I still do not recognize it.
George
Not quite. It's a 7 minute plus song.

In the morning they return With tears in their eyes The stench of death drifts up to the skies A soldier so I'll looks at the sky pilot Remembers the words "Thou shalt not kill"
This is Natalie Imbruglia's "lying naked on the floor" song.  Actually, the title is "TORN", but it's amazing how often I've heard it referred to by the "other name."  Strictly speaking, it's a COVER of "Torn", but I never remember the name of the singer who wrote it.    Somewhere, there's a video of this song with clips of Gumby edited to match the lyrics.
"You don't need a penny just to hang around.
But if you've got a nickel, won't you lay your money down?
Over on the corner there's a happy noise.
People come from all around to watch the magic boy."
The colors of the rainbow
So pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces
Of people going by
I see friends shaking hands, saying, "How do you do?"
They're really saying, "I love you"
"He drinks a whiskey drink, he drinks a vodka drink, he drinks a lager drink, he drinks a cider drink, He sings the songs that remind him of the good times, he sings the songs that remind him of the best times."

Don't know the title but then I never did like the stones to much. unless it was covered by Flying Burrito brothers also which would make it dead flowers but I think that's another song.

Once beneath the stars, the universe was ours. Love was all we knew, and all I knew was you. I wonder where you are, I wonder if you think about me Once upon a time, IN YOUR WILDEST DREAMS. It mig

You go ahead. Songs in this thread are usually a bit more challenging, but they don't have to be. Â

Oops, I gave it away.  I think that line is a misprint. It's "A young soldier so ill looks up at the Sky Pilot"

Got one.Â
I'm all out of faith, this is how I feel
I'm cold and I am shamed
Lying naked on the floor
Illusion never changed
Into something real

"What a Wonderful World"Â Satchmo
You were working as a waitress in a cocktail bar
When I met you
I picked you out, I shook you up
And turned you around
Turned you into someone new

"I was working as a waitress in a cocktail bar, that much is true. But even then I knew I'd find a much better place, either with or without you."
This is "DON'T YOU WANT ME," by- I think- the Human League.   Neat lyrics.Â

Next song.
"Don't cry for me, next door neighbor."
Â
"Oh, Danny boy, Danny boy, Danny boy!"
Â
Â
(Anyone guessing "Danny Boy" as the song will get his nose honked.)
