I got no kick
Against the west coast
Warner Brothers
Are such good hosts
I raise my whiskey glass
And give them a toast
I'm sure they know it's true
I got no rap against
The Southern states
Every time I've been there
It's been great
I'm wearin'
Fur pajamas
I ride a
Hot Potata'
It's tickling my fancy
Speak up, I can't hear you
Check out Mr. Businessman
Oh, ho ho
Checkin' in, a checkin' out!
Peace of mind It's a piece of cake Thought control You get on board any time you like
Like sitting on pins and needles Things fall apart It's scientific Â

This is a clue.  It would definitely tell me a lot, but I'm not sure it will jog your memory. It depends on if you've heard this song before....
"Neunundneunzig Luftballons
Auf ihrem Weg zum Horizont
Hielt man für UFOs aus dem All
Darum schickte ein General
'Ne Fliegerstaffel hinterher
Alarm zu geben, wenn's so wär
Dabei waren dort am Horizont
Nur neunundneunzig Luftballons
Neunundneunzig Düsenflieger
Jeder war ein großer Krieger
Hielten sich für Captain Kirk
Es gab ein großes Feuerwerk
Die Nachbarn haben nichts gerafft
Und fühlten sich gleich angemacht
Dabei schoss man am Horizont
Auf neunundneunzig Luftballons."
Ok, I'll end this round.  This was Nena's "99 Red Balloons." She was a German singer who wrote "99 Luftballons" in German. It was such a hit that she wrote an English version of the song.  It was a hit, but not as big as the original song. (Technically, the English version didn't "chart", but it got a LOT of airplay.)  This was from 1983, so I didn't break my rule for myself of not picking anything after 1985. It was played on album oriented stations so that counts. I remember it I just can't think of the song right now

Don't know the title but then I never did like the stones to much. unless it was covered by Flying Burrito brothers also which would make it dead flowers but I think that's another song.

I've at least heard of George Strait, but I don't know ANY of his songs. C & W is not my usual fare.

I get the feeling I should recognize "Mr Businessman" but the rest isn't ringing a bell.  I might be missing a line somewhere.

Buy a bag of balloons with the money we've got.
Set them free at the break of dawn
