From the rear
And the front rank died
And the general sat
And the lines on the map

Funny thing and the jokes on me. Oh, this is Us and Them ~Pink Floyd~ but Dickens opening line from "A Tale of Two Cities" says it best. "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times". I'm talking about logging in on GS for the last two or three years! "It was the best of times" because I could share and cherish times with the people here on GSC, "it was the worst of times" because I couldn't access the website for some sticky reason which meant constantly having to re-login myself through my email (if you play on this board then you are familiar with what I'm saying) again and again. Anyway I found that sticky thing that was causing it. Â
I wasn't putting any space between the words in my username. So now I can login to the site again, and stay logged in, no problem.
I see your hair is burnin' Hills are filled with fire If they say I never loved you You know they are a liar Drivin' down your freeways Midnight alleys roam Cops in cars, the topless bars
I must really be wired it now since fixing my log-in issues. I just got a notification that you replied to this post on my computer WordWolf. It will come to you.

Never saw a woman So alone, so alone So alone, so alone Motel money, murder madness Let's change the mood from glad to sadness
It is "Light My Fire", no its not, it is "L A. Woman" from ~The Doors~ album of the same name. The other post was The Doors song "Changeling", L. A. Woman's opening track.Â
"Whenever we kiss I get a feeling like this".
I get to wishing that there was two of you.
My heart cries out, 'More, baby!'
I love you so much.
I wish that there was more of you to touch!
"Whenever we kiss
I get to feeling like this.
I get to wishing that there was two of you.
My heart cries out
'Woo, baby'.
It feels so nice.
I want your arms to wrap around me twice."

Â
"Right or Wrong
Baby Right or Wrong
When you had to go I hated the thought
I always wish the night was twice as long
My heart cries out more baby
I love you so much
I wish that there was more of you to touch."

This song charted with the original artists. Decades later, it charted with a cover that was on a teen movie soundtrack.
You lost me WordWolf after the 3rd line.  Reveal or pick another perhaps by the same artist which you have been known to do. Or, perhaps like me, just pass on it and go on to another song.

It was played on album oriented stations so that counts. I remember it I just can't think of the song right now

Don't know the title but then I never did like the stones to much. unless it was covered by Flying Burrito brothers also which would make it dead flowers but I think that's another song.

I live uptown, I live downtown
I live all around
I had money, yeah, I had none
I had money, yeah, I had none
But I've never been so broke that I couldn't left town.

This rings a bell.  Lined 3 &4, and the last 2 lines sound vaguely familiar. I'll have to keep working on them and see if my memory cooperates.

I was confusing this for "Light My Fire," by The Doors, but this obviously is not that song.  It is "L.A. WOMAN" by The Doors.
(Both songs have a line about a liar.)

Ok, different song, but same artist. (AFAIK, the original artist for both songs, although they've both been covered since then.)
Â
"Too many teardrops for one heart to be crying .
Too many teardrops for one heart to carry on.
You're way on top now since you left me.
You're always laughing way down at me.
But watch out now, I'm gonna get there.
We'll be together for just a little while.
And then I'm gonna put you way down there."[/b]
