The song was written by Kris Kristopherson and covered by The Grateful Dead among others and it was Janis Joplin's only number one song to top the charts which she did posthumously an achievement she shares with Otis Redding as the only two artists to ever reach that plateau. Otis did it with sittin' on the dock of the bay.

This song was also the # 1 single on the Pop Charts, as well as the # 1 song on the easy listening charts.. [Personally, I didn't know there're were any] before it became #1 on the Canadian Charts. It was performed by an Canadian actor and eventually reached # 21 on the country charts where it belonged.
Here's a little more lyrics. The actor who sang it was mainly a television actor, however, he did do some movies. He was a narrator of a sort / singer. According to Wiki he put out 10 of these narrator/singer type albums. Known for his deep resonant voice.

Don't know the title but then I never did like the stones to much. unless it was covered by Flying Burrito brothers also which would make it dead flowers but I think that's another song.

(I Can't Get No) "Satisfaction": Rolling Stones
I pulled my harp out of my dirty red bandanna
I was playin' soft while Bobby sang the blues, yeah
Windshield wipers slappin' time, I was holdin' Bobby's hand in mine
We sang every song that driver knew

He lay face down in the desert sand
Clutching his six-gun in his hand
Shot from behind, I thought he was dead
But under his heart was an ounce of lead
But a spark still burned so I used my knife
And late that night I saved his life
The days went by, he mended fast
Then from dawn till settin' sun
He practiced with that deadly gun
And hour on hour I watched in awe
No human being could match his draw

No human being could match the draw
ne day we rode the mountain crest
And I went east and he went west
I took to law and wore a star
While he spread terror near and far
With lead and blood he gained such fame
All throught the West they feared the name

I know I've heard this before....
"Michelle"?
I'm unsure if that's the Beatles, or Paul Mc Cartney post-Beatles.

It is "Michelle," and it was the Beatles.

"Pinball Wizard." Knowing how crafty you are, however, you probably picked a line that differentiates the two versions. I'll guess Elton John?

There were two versions? Didn't know that.

I forgot Elton John did one. It's a song by "The Who" to me.
But George is correct that Sir Reginald Dwight's version
included this section. So, correct.
And I'm sorry I didn't have a curveball for you there.
People keep expressing shock that the Pinball Wizard could
play without being able to see or hear,
and that he plays by "intuition" and "sense of smell."

This one is not the artist's best known, but it still did well on the charts:
When she kissed me I was born, and she said goodbye
And I knew right away I was born to cry
Now I'm happy, and the joke's on her...

When she kissed me I was born, and she said goodbye
And I knew right away I was born to cry
Now I'm happy, and the joke's on her...
She took my love, said she's not comin' back
So my world and my sky was all turnin' black
Now I see the light, I'm wise to her...
A walkin' around thinkin' about her
Never thought I could live without her
She broke my heart, I really showed it
Look at me now, you'd never know it

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears
And the way the sunlight plays upon her hair
I hear the sound of a gentle word
On the wind that lifts her perfume through the air

Isn't this something about "the flower girl"? At least that's what I've got in my head. Flowers in her hair, flowers everywhere.

I'm sure you have. :)
This is not a Cowsills song. This group was much more prolific.
