No idea. At 13, a lot of the groups who played Woodstock were pretty foreign to me.

It's not that I was unaware of rock music, of course; but it was pretty much mainstream bands (Beatles, Herman's Hermits, Mamas and Papas) that I knew.
As for Arlo Guthrie, I could have gotten "City of New Orleans," but that's about it. Just a process check, here. Was "Coming into Los Angeles" released as a single? Just because I don't recognize the title doesn't mean that it wasn't; but as much as we'd like people to recognize our favorite album cuts, we really need to keep this thread to songs with pretty wide distribution.
I got off track here and I have to apologize. I was trying to come up with a Rolling Stones song from memory and this is what came to me. But it didn't receive enough radio time to warrant it being posted here.
Hang Fire ~Rolling Stones~ Sorry, but my link disappeared.
Here's one we all will recognize.
This is a story about Billie Joe and Bobbie Sue
Two young lovers with nothin' better to do
Than sit around the house, get high, and watch the tube
And here's what happened when they decided to cut loose

It was played on album oriented stations so that counts. I remember it I just can't think of the song right now

Don't know the title but then I never did like the stones to much. unless it was covered by Flying Burrito brothers also which would make it dead flowers but I think that's another song.

Arlo's most-recognized song is "Alice's Restaurant" in any of its variations.
Since it was never released as a single, Billboard doesn't count it.
They count "City of New Orleans" as his sole hit single.
Wikipedia notes he had some success with "Coming into Los Angeles" and
with "the Motorcycle Song."
My usual standard for this is AIRPLAY. I've loved a lot of songs that
never got airplay, so I consider them unfair to post.
I've barely ever heard "City of New Orleans" and couldn't recognize
the other 2 songs, and I can probably recite at least 1 version of
"Alice's Restaurant." I don't know about anyone else.

Oh well. I'm still up.
In the sweet old country where I come from
Nobody ever works
Yeah nothing gets done
You know marrying money is a full time job
I don't need the aggravation
I'm a lazy slob
We got nothing to eat
We got nowhere to work
Nothing to drink
We just lost our shirts
I'm on the dole
I ain't for hire

Not exactly.
Since the Politics forum was cancelled due to being a strain on the Admin/site owner,
politics are forbidden to discuss.
That having been said, some people would take the lyrics you posted and start from
there in making some sort of political diatribe.
(I.e, characters on the dole/on welfare, etc.)
In other news, no idea about the current song.

Thanks for enlightening me WordWolf. I did'nt know what "on the dole" meant by the artist in the song.
I do know that they don't suffer financially. They are all mega millionaires.

Ok, I HAVE heard "Hang Fire" and could hum a little when I saw the name.
(I don't know the lyrics, but I could have known them.)
As for the current song, I can clap along....

A new tune:
I put my faith in the people
But the people let me down
So I turned the other way
And I carry on, anyhow
That's why I'm telling you
Had my head on the dollar bill
But the dollar bill flew away
But the sun is shining down on me
And its here to stay
That's why I'm telling you

Don't let it all get you down, no, no
Don't let it turn you around and around
And around, and around and around
Five, four, three. two
Can't be bothered with sorrow
And I can't be bothered with hate, no, no
I'm using up the time but feeling fine every day
That's why I'm telling you

I was cutting a rug
Down at a place called The Jug
With a girl named Linda Lu
When in walked a man
With a gun in his hand
And he's lookin' for you know who
I said "Wait a minute, mister,
I didn't even kiss her
Don't want no trouble with you
And I know you don't own me
But I wish you'd let me
Ask on favor from you".

I could have recognized about 1/2 the past page.
I just got so used to not recognizing any that I stopped checking the thread.
I can resume checking it some more.
(And H w/o Bean missed my comment about
"Take the Money and Run", where I said I could clap along.
I was letting someone else name it, thinking they could,
but since there's clapping in the song, hinting I could
name it, then I forgot to name it later.)

Billy left his home with a dollar in his pocket and a head full of dreams
He said, somehow, someway it's got to get better than this
Patty packed her bags, left a note for her mama, she was just 17
There were tears in her eyes when she kissed her little sister goodbye

Spread your tiny wings and fly away
And take the snow back with you from where it came on that day
The one I love forever is untrue
And if I could you know I would fly away with you
