This song is from the mid-70's and is written about the memories the song writer has from a past relationship that comes about after a phone call from the ex-lover.

This is the whole song. I thought it was convoluted (not the song, me and my posting skills) so I cleaned it up too.
More clues to follow because it seems that everyone is clueless to it, (so far)
Sometimes, I hear a song over and over, but it's background (music at a nightclub, etc.), and I never listen to the words. That may be the case here. I don't recognize the lyrics, and the other clues aren't helping.
No new clues then. It's a song that ~Joan Baez~ did in the mid 70's, I guess I'm the only one remembering it. It's about her relationship with Bob Dylan. ( "you burst on the scene already a legend") ~Joan Baez~ Diamonds and Rust.
GOOD! I took the most obscure lyric I could find in the song, lol.
It's not ringing a bell with me RottieGrrrl.
Virtually anyone of us can click with a song and it soon becomes one of our favorites. A novelty if you like.
But with media today, radio, internet, shopping centers, bars, you do hear a lot of stuff, however it may not click with our brains as far as the song goes.
I've probably heard it before but at this point I just can't place it.
This is NOT a Novelty song! I'm not a huge rock fan, and if I know this song, it was being played on the radio a lot back then, and it is still is played occasionally. This was a hit back in 1970 on secular radio and considered one of the Jesus songs. In 1971, the band changed their name following pressure from the utility company of the same name. So one last clue . :)

There's rumors of war
Men dying and women crying
If you breathe air, you'll die
Perhaps you wonder the reason why
But wait! Don't you worry
A new day is dawning
We'll catch the sun, and away we'll fly...
Thanks RottieGrrrl. It sounds like I should know this. The lyrics are kinda familiar to me. I can't hear the tune in my head.
Is this the electric or water or gas company we are talking about? I know it's not the Five man Electrical Band.

Don't know the title but then I never did like the stones to much. unless it was covered by Flying Burrito brothers also which would make it dead flowers but I think that's another song.

Once beneath the stars, the universe was ours. Love was all we knew, and all I knew was you. I wonder where you are, I wonder if you think about me Once upon a time, IN YOUR WILDEST DREAMS. It mig

Wow, they play that song on the radio all the time and I never knew that was the name of it, lol.
Okay, but you guys will get this in no time. This is a really kick a$$ song though, lol. I'm taking the most obscure verse I could find.
Brothers and sisters, I have many
Stumbling along to do their thing
Love is a song, it's better than any
It's better for music, it's easy to sing

People say that He won't come
And I don't know what say you
But if He should, would you be the one?
I've got a little question I'd like to ask you
(I can't print the next line because it is the name of the song!)
