Maybe some clues will jog the ol' memories. This was a very popular song in late 70's. It's on par with the likes of lets say, The Year Of The Cat by ~Al Stewart~ in terms of it's height in the day.
~Christopher Cross~ would be another guy whose music rivaled the airways and grew in popularity with his hits like Arthur's Theme and Ride Like The Wind.
This artist had a couple of other well known hits, not to mention he was part of another popular duo band.

Don't know the title but then I never did like the stones to much. unless it was covered by Flying Burrito brothers also which would make it dead flowers but I think that's another song.

That would be the "LOW RIDerrrrrrrrrrr" would it not GSG?
But there are plenty of other lyrics to it, so I don't understand?
the low rider don't use too much gas
the low rider don't drive too fast
"Oh" said the blind man, "I see". All of the other lyrics use the title in them.

My dog Sam eats purple flowers
We ain't got much but what we got's ours
I dig snow and rain and bright sunshine
Loving the free and feelin' spirit
Of huggin a tree when you get near it
Diggin the snow and rain and bright sunshine

"Draggin' the Line" by Tommy James (and, I think, the Shondells, though he had a couple of hits without them).

Ah each time I see you, baby my heart cries
I tell ya I'm gonna steal you away from all those guys
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, from the happy day I met ya
Now I made a bet that I was goin' to get ya

Now I made a bet that I was goin' to get ya
When this girl looks at me she just sets my soul aflame
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, I got some hugs and-a kisses, too
Yeah and now I'm gonna give-a them all to you
Most of the other lines contain the title or part of it.

The artist is better known for "Runaround Sue" and "The Wanderer," but this song did well on the charts, too.

"Well, I was only sixteen years old
So what could I have known?
In my mind these passing years
The legend sure has grown.
People come from miles around
To see my royal tenement crown
Always up and never down."

Seems MIGHTY familiar, especially that "royal tenement crown" line. Can't HEAR it, though. :(

I bumped my head on heaven's ceiling

I just ruled from my backyard
Living fast, living hard."

This song's from 1989, but I thought there was a reason it might be recognized,
especially if I posted it right now.
Maybe not.
"People called me the scandalizer.
The world was my appetizer.
I turned gangs into fertilizer."
"I broke hearts like window panes
For breakfast I'd eat nails and chains
To my kingdom I'd proclaim"
"I floored my accelerator
All the way to the equator.
Just a local gladiator."

I googled "tenement crown."
Although this was a record by one of my favorite artists, I'm pretty clueless as to his songs after the late 60's.
I did buy a couple of albums about 1-15 years ago, though, so this song might be on it.
Good pick, WW, even though it's not that well known.

Well, I'll open this one up. Although I liked the song when it got
airplay, apparently it wasn't well-known.
This was "King of the New York Streets," by Bronx-born Dion de Mucci.

This city desert makes you feel so cold
It's got so many people, but it's got no soul
And it's taken you so long
To find out you were wrong
When you thought it held everything
Way down the street there's a light in his place
He opens the door, he's got that look on his face
And he asks you where you been
And you tell him who you've seen
And you talk about anything
He's got this dream about buying some land
He's gonna give up the booze and the one-night stands

But you know he'll always keep moving
You know he's never gonna stop moving
'Cause he's rolling, he's the rolling stone
And when you wake up, it's a new morning
The sun is shining, it's a new morning
And your going, your going home
