Actually, it's Why I sing the blues, but close enough to let me know that you knew it!
Rick
Edited cause I can't type worth a crap tonight. :(
OK, this is a fun thread!
If I could do one more...I don't know what the rules are here. This is a line from a song that is only heard on a certain recording...or maybe a few, but I know it isn't on all recording's. This line is at the end of the song, so there is clue number 1 (although I don't thnk many people will need clues for this one)
Rick, since Belle answered your clue, it's her turn to give one. (I'm sure you'll get another turn soon enough!) Anyway, I believe the answer to Belle's clue is "Do not Pass Me By" by MC Hammer. (They play it in my cycling class all the time. My wife told me the performer.)
Awwww, heck, WW! I can hear the song and even sing the lyrics, but I have absolutely NO IDEA which part of the lyrics are the title much less who sings it.

Can you hear it? Can you hear it humming? Can you hear it humming, 'cuz you're close, I'm telling you.
Hint: If I'm not mistaken, the title does not appear in the lyrics.

It was played on album oriented stations so that counts. I remember it I just can't think of the song right now

Don't know the title but then I never did like the stones to much. unless it was covered by Flying Burrito brothers also which would make it dead flowers but I think that's another song.

That one is tricky Oakspear, as a lot of people have done that song, but I'm going to guess Yardbirds?
Rick
I forgot to name the song! Train Kept a-Rollin

The Yardbirds didn't write it, but did the first popular version. I first heard it done by Aerosmith

OK, here's one:

I heard the rats tell the bedbugs "Hey, leave the roaches some"

Interesting lyric, though I'm fairly certain I haven't heard this tune. Glad to have you here, Rick!

Hi George!
Well, since not everyone is a blues fan, I'l say that it IS blues and it is a song done by the King himself!
The next line after what I posted is the title of the song, by the way.

What kind of southern gal would I be if I didn't know this one? ;)
Not one who grew up going to the annual Blues Festival in Green-vull, MS - that's for sure!
That's why I'm singing the Blues by THE King - BB

Should be "Missionary Man".
I think that's a Eurythmics song,
but it MIGHT have been an Annie Lennox solo venture.
Haven't heard that song in quite a while...
I don't think they get a lot of airplay.

Well, that's what I get for listening to my wife. I just checked: WordWolf is correct (and it was the Eurythmics). Go, Dude!
George
In defense of my wife, they do play "Don't Pass Me By" in our spinning classes, as well.

Now I'm curious what your song sounds like.
I couldn't find its lyrics online-
just notes that people would LIKE its lyrics.
And I think "MC Hammer" dropped the
"MC" years ago.
============
New song.
"There's a gun with ammunition
Just inside the doorway.
Use it only in emergency."
All the militia posts lately reminded me of this line,
I suppose.

"Don't Pass Me By" is a rock re-make of an old spiritual.
I don't recognize your song.

And it's NOT by Genesis. Or Phil Collins.

The title, as such, does not actually appear in the song.
However, one word of it appears in the chorus,
and the chorus may remind you of the rest of the title...
A little practice, and I'm sure you'll tune up your
missing memory.....
