Neither this song or your earlier entry seem even remotely familiar to me. I was dancing in nightclubs around that time, but I usually went to oldies places which might have played only a few current songs a night.
"The lyrics in this duet are designed to be heard as a conversation between two people, marked as "mouse" and "wolf" on the printed score. Every line in the song features a statement from the "mouse" followed by a response from the "wolf". Usually the "wolf" part is sung by a male and the "mouse" by a female.
Criticisms of the song stem from a reading of the lyrics not as the "mouse" wanting to stay and only putting up a token protest for the sake of appearance as supported by lyrics such as "The neighbors might think...", "My father will be pacing the floor", but instead as the "mouse" genuinely wanting to leave but being stopped by the "wolf" being coercive in his pleading with the mouse. Examples of questionable lyrics in this regard include, "I simply must go", "The answer is no", "I've got to go home". There is also the line "Hey, what's in this drink", which could be taken to sound suspiciously like the "mouse" has been drugged."

Don't know the title but then I never did like the stones to much. unless it was covered by Flying Burrito brothers also which would make it dead flowers but I think that's another song.

Ok, no bites on that one.
I'll switch songs.
Same artist.
"Son," she said, "Have I got a little story for you.
What you thought was your Daddy was nothin' but a...
While you were sittin' home alone at age thirteen,
Your real Daddy was dyin'.
Sorry you didn't see him, but I'm glad we talked."
The ellipsis is in the song, I didn't drop a word.

Oh,
she walks slowly, across a young man's room.
She said, "I'm ready
for you".
I can't remember anything to this very day
'cept the look,
the look.
Oh, you know where.
Now I can't see, I just stare.

It is.
Pearl Jam's biggest hit.
Their second biggest hit was probably "Jeremy", which was the preceding song.
Your turn.

I close my eyes when I get too sad
I think thoughts that I know are bad
Close my eyes and I count to ten
Hope it's over when I open them
Hope my mom and I hope my dad
Will figure out why they get so mad
Hear them scream, I hear them fight
They say bad words that make me wanna cry
this band formed in 92', and their name may not be remembered, but
it was this song that put them into the main stream spotlight.

Their name is probably remembered by heavy drinkers or people who thought
one or another of their later songs were better, IMHO.

I was an Old English 800 guy myself.... Once drank so much of it I climbed up a tree and started barking.
I'm serious. The topic is actually about alcohol isn't it.

It is if the alcohol is 190 proof.

The song's name is "Wonderful", and the band's name is "Everclear",
named after an alcoholic drink that is almost 100% alcohol.
Me, I really liked "I Will Buy You A New Life", a later song of theirs.

"You've really been grand
(I thrill when you touch my hand)
But don't you see
(How can you do this thing to me?)
There's bound to be talk tomorrow
(Think of my life long sorrow)
At least there will be plenty implied
(If you caught pneumonia and died)"

"This evening has been
(Been hoping that you'd drop in)
So very nice
(I'll hold your hands, they're just like ice)
My mother will start to worry
(Beautiful what's your hurry?)
My father will be pacing the floor
(Listen to the fireplace roar)
So really I'd better scurry
(Beautiful please don't hurry)
But maybe just a half a drink more
(Put some records on while I pour)"

(Baby, it's bad out there)
Say what's in this drink?
(No cabs to be had out there)
I wish I knew how
(Your eyes are like starlight now)
To break this spell
(I'll take your hat, your hair looks swell)
I ought to say, "No, no, no sir"
(Mind if I move in closer?)
At least I'm gonna say that I tried
(What's the sense in hurtin' my pride?)"

You old fogies have definitely heard this song before.
I'm reasonably sure everybody here's heard it at one time or another.

I think it's "Baby It's Cold Outside." It's an old jazz standard, but I couldn't give a particular performer.

That's the song.
So many people have covered it (many of them crooners), that if you picked a name at random,
you'd probably be correct. So...?

*checks*, Yes he did, no surprises there!
At least once, he did a duet with Doris Day on it, in fact.
Someone pointed out recently that the song sounds like it might be
about date rape, since it sounds like he might have given her
a Mickey in the song.
Hm. The wikipedia page is fascinating.
There's a really long list of artists who did this song
(Ricardo Montalban? Red Skelton? Sigorney Weaver?)
and some thoughts on the lyrics and the song's history.

This is a song that is a lot like Billy Joel's, " We didn't start the fire". However, I don't recognize any
of these lyrics.
