The verse I posted was the second. The title is in the opening line, but here's the second (this should give it away):

Bobbies on bicycles, two by two.

George

It doesn't sound familiar enough for me George. If I should have a clue, I'm sorry.

Wow. I never knew the name of that song. I was hearing something other than England Swings in my head. Thanks for posting that George. It brings back a lot of good memories. smile.gif

I don't mind you coming here

And wasting all my time

cause when your standing, oh so near

I kinda lose my mind

Its not the perfume that you wear

it;s not the ribbons in your hair

I don't mind you coming here

and wasting all my time

Its your fault Raf, and your up WW . anim-smile.gif

Anyone know what's up with the emoticons. When I leave them they have

a tail of some sort, so then I go back in and edit it out after the post?

I usually select that I don't want emoticons in my post, when hitting "add reply."

I don't know about any problem, but I like to use all my characters when I need them.

Did this tune get its share of radio time WordWolf? I Don't recognize it.

On classic rock stations, it STILL gets its share of radio time.

It's off an album that sold 7 million units worldwide-the best-selling album of a band

that won at least 1 Grammy that I recall. Since I don't have the album, I ONLY know

this song from airplay.

Maybe you just don't like flute music. Hey, the flute is a (heavy) metal instrument!

Oh, Jesus save me!

And the unsung Western hero

killed an Indian or three

And made his name in Hollywood

To set the white man free.

Oh, Jesus save me!

If Jesus saves -- well, He'd better save Himself

from the gory glory seekers who use His name in death.

Oh, Jesus save me!

I saw him in the city and on the mountains of the moon --

His cross was rather bloody --

He could hardly roll His stone.

Oh Jesus save me!"

I imagine that I've heard it. They played a lot of Tull when I was in college. But the only song I'd recognize immediately would be "Bungle in the Jungle." sad.gif

Wrong album George. I looked it up. I've never heard of it? But play on!!!! confused.gif

I didn't say that I thought "Bungle in the Jungle" was the correct answer, just that it was the only JT song I'd recognize immediately. A couple of lines form "Aqualung" (e.g., "Snot was running down his nose") would also be familiar; but WW has already said this wan't it.

No.

I posted the lyrics already.

The title is "Hymn 43."

You might recognize it if you heard it playing.

When Jethro Tull won the first Grammy in the then-new category of

Hard Rock/Heavy Metal album, Metallica and others were shocked.

They hadn't been listening lately- "Crest of a Knave" and "Rock Island"

are very hard. (The band wasn't in attendance because they didn't think

they had a chance.)

Jethro Tull's label replied with an ad in Billboard Magazine.

"The flute is a (heavy) metal instrument!"

  • 2 weeks later...

Oh I can see

There ain't no room for me-

You're only holding out your heart in sympaty.

If there's another man

Then girl I understand.

Go on and take his hand

And don't you worry 'bout me.

Oh I'll be blue

And I'll be crying too-

But girl you know I only want what's best for you.

What good is all my pride

If our true love has died?

Go on and be his bri-ide

And don't you worry about me.

This is another song whose title is not in the lyrics.
