Indeed.  There's something else, "Last Dance with Mary Jane" was never released as a single, or any album before the 1993 "Greatest Hits" album but was a song that The Heartbreakers had done in concert a few times, and was well received.  To fulfill their obligation to their record company with MCA and needing one more album to fulfill their contract they decided to do a "greatest hits" album but wanted to add two new songs.  Tom's version of Norman Greenbaum's "Something in the Air" (which I personally love) and "Last Dance with Mary Jane".

Even though it was a never released before song, and only played as a fan favorite, Tom Petty knew it was good enough to make the greatest hits album before it was even a hit.  Sweet stuff.  Really miss him too, but I will always have his music.

Next song.

"Don't you love the life you killed?
The priest is on the phone.
Your father hit the wall.
Your ma disowned you.
I don't suppose I'll ever know
What it means to be a man.
It's something I can't change.
I'll live around it."

I'll accept the artist, the song, or both.

"Don't you love the life you killed?
The priest is on the phone.
Your father hit the wall.
Your ma disowned you.
I don't suppose I'll ever know
What it means to be a man.
It's something I can't change.
I'll live around it."

"And I'll do anything you ever dreamed to be complete,
Little pieces of the nothing that fall.
Oh, May.
Put your arms around me.
What you feel is what you are
And what you are is beautiful.
Oh, May.
Do you want to get married or run away?"

"Could you whisper in my ear
The things you wanna feel?
I'd give you anything
To feel it comin'.
Do you wake up on your own,
And wonder where you are?
You live with all your faults."

"I want to wake up where you are. I won't say anything at all."

I like this song. I'm going to pivot anyway.  Same artists, different song.

"And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming,
Or the moment of truth in your lies,
When everything feels like the movies
Yeah, you bleed just to know you're alive."

I recognize this song from the last line.  I think it's either Goo Goo Dolls or Stone Temple Pilots.  The name however, is eluding me.  I Want You to Know Who I Am?

I'll call this one answered. It is the Goo Goo Dolls. This was their second hit but their BIGGEST hit, "Iris." You remember the song and its chorus well, but the title is not in the song's lyrics.  I thought of "iris" as a reference to the eye, and there's mention of how the world sees him.  That's my answer, and I prefer it to the official answers.

The previous song was "Slide". That and "Dizzy" never seem to get much attention, but I think they're underrated, especially when "Black Balloon" and "Broadway" are off the same album ("Dizzy Up the Girl")  and they get more airplay but are lesser songs in my opinion.

Go, Human!

And it all comes down to you
Well you know that it does
And lightning strikes, maybe once, maybe twice
Oh, and it lights up the night

Oh good, no one has responded so, I'm changing gears.  Let's go with something else.

"Yeah, oh don't you put me on the backburner
You know you got to help me out

And when there's nowhere else to run
Is there room for one more son
These changes ain't changing me
The gold-hearted boy I used to be"

"When there's nowhere else to run
Is there room for one more son
One more son
If you can hold on
If you can hold on, hold on...........
I want to stand up, I want to let go
You know, you know, no you don't, you don't
I want to shine on in the hearts of men
I want a meaning from the back of my broken hand

Another head aches, another heart breaks
I am so much older than I can take
And my affection, well it comes and goes
I need direction to perfection, no no no no".........

"Yeah, oh don't you put me on the backburner
You know you got to help me out

And when there's nowhere else to run
Is there room for one more son
These changes ain't changing me
The gold-hearted boy I used to be"

"I've got soul but I'm not a soldier"

I've found my "nothing after 1985" rule to work

I would agree with that WordWolf for the most part.  There's a few exceptions.

Say I wonder if somebody familiar with secure websites could help me or not.  I haven't been playing much as of late because I keep being redirected back to a Your connection is NOT private page when ever I open up grease spots's website.  The tab says Privacy error.  I've tried troubleshooting with it, went it to the website cookies and tried to reset them to default.  It didn't stop it.  Every page I jump to or from it guides me back to this page, every time I post, same thing.  To respond to any post or to get to another thread the same thing happens, redirected back to [Not secure  https://www.greasespotcafe.com] after which I select the (advanced) tab and then select [proceed to www.greasespotcafe.com (unsafe).  Anyone with any ideas?  Now to post this I will have go through all these channels again.

I pulled this off of the page after posting.  "This server could not prove that it is www.greasespotcafe.com; its security certificate expired 8 days ago. This may be caused by a misconfiguration or an attacker intercepting your connection."

I've been getting the same messages.  I can get around them on my home computer by just verifying that I know the risk but want to go ahead.  My work computer won't let me onto this site.

George

I'm using LibreWolf (Firefox variant) right now. When I got to the warning, I had options for more information, and the option to accept the risk and go forward- which meant the browser automatically saved an exception. Now, I have that exception and don't get the message. But I get a symbol on the URL with the security exception, and I have the option of removing it (after which I can accept the risk again and re-add the exception.)   Some browsers may allow the same thing, others may just block you from proceeding.

*checks*  This works for regular Firefox also.     But not on Opera, which is Chromium based. Can't even get a choice. And that browser automatically updates, so the latest version won't even get here.   And Pale Moon gives the choices, has some nice menus, and allows me to choose whether or not to make this a one-time exception or to save the exception.  And Chrome gave me some options if I looked closely enough.

So, if you use Firefox, LibreWolf or Pale Moon, you should be able to get here fine.    Chromium based, who knows?
