And now you find yourself in '83 The disco hot spots hold no charm for me You can concern yourself with bigger things You catch a pearl and ride the dragon's wings
So how about some more lines waysider that may help me with this clue?
I never meant to be so bad to you One thing I said that I would never do One look from you and I would fall from grace And that would wipe the smile right from my face
I never meant to be so bad to you One thing I said that I would never do One look from you and I would fall from grace And that would wipe the smile right from my face
Is there one line that stands out among the rest of the lyrics, (maybe with the title in it) that I may recognize? Ha ha. I don't suppose that any players playing here would know this one, myself, I certainly don't know this one, and when posts just sit there and don't get responses, it takes two weeks until they get passed along. So I, at least like to post something just to say, I don't have a clue yet.
Do you remember when we used to dance And incidents arose from circumstance One thing led to another, we were young And we would scream together songs unsung
clue: This was the first big hit for a supergroup. It appeared on their eponymous album.
One of the band members was in ELP, if that helps.
The only real rule for this thread is that the song had airtime (i.e., it was not just an album cut or B-side). Realize, however, that we have a limited number of players, so relatively obscure songs are likely not to be recognized.
That said, I'm going to post a COUNTRY song. If you know it at all, you'll know it from these lines:
"Well, I was drunk the day my mom got out of prison
And I went to pick her up in the rain
But before I could get to the station in my pickup truck
She got run over by a damned old train!"
George
I'll settle for the title, if you don't know the artist.
I'll take your word for it about Heat of the Moment. Just because I don't recognize a song, that doesn't mean it was obscure. Of course, it doesn't mean it WASN'T obscure, either.
The other rule of the game is that you have to name the version having the posted lyrics. You have the right song, of course, but that Prine version in the video had different lyrics, for an obvious reason. Anyway, I've had so little luck posting country here that I'm elated you got it.
I personally prefer David Allan Coe's version, probably because it's the one they play in the bars down here, and maybe because it's a bit edgier. I'll let the others make up their own minds:
Well, let her be someone else's queen
I don't want to know about it
There's too many others that know what I mean
And that's why I've got to live without it
Well, let her be someone else's queen
I don't want to know about it
There's too many others that know what I mean
And that's why I've got to live without it
Well, the stories crawling back to me
From my friends and the people that I want to see
The things they say I know just couldn't be true
At least not until I hear it from you
I'm in love with the girl i'm talking about I'm in love with the girl I can't live without
Well, let her be somebody else's queen I don't want to know about it There's too many others that know what I mean And that's why I got to live without it I'm in love with the girl I'm talking about I'm in love with the girl I can't live without
All the stories coming back to me From my friends and the people that I don't want to see The things you say I know just couldn't be true At least not until I hear them from you 'Cause I still in love with the girl I'm talking about I'm in love with the girl I can't live without

It was played on album oriented stations so that counts. I remember it I just can't think of the song right now

Don't know the title but then I never did like the stones to much. unless it was covered by Flying Burrito brothers also which would make it dead flowers but I think that's another song.

Not sure why I posted this one.
I must have been caught up in the heat of the moment.

In 1982, Heat of the Moment sat at #1 on the U.S. charts for 6 weeks, after which it dropped to #4. Definitely not obscure.

This keeps reminding me of a Gin Blossoms song, but this can't be that song....

The title is familiar (and the group), so I've probably heard the song, just not in quite a while. I'm out.
