Sounds vaguely familiar, but it's just not clicking.   The "let the children" lines definitely sound familiar.

I thought for sure, you would have got it from the first clue WordWolf.

Didn't know what time it was
The lights were low oh oh
I leaned back on my radio

Some cat was layin' down
Some rock 'n' roll 'lotta soul
He said,

Then the loud sound did seem to fade
Came back like a slow voice on a wave of phase
That weren't no DJ that was hazy cosmic jive

He told me, "Let the children lose it
Let the children use it
Let all the children boogie"

I had to phone someone so I picked on you
Hey, that's far out so you heard him too
Switch on the TV we may pick him up on Channel Two

Look out your window I can see his light
If we can sparkle he may land tonight
Don't tell your poppa or he'll get us locked up in fright

Oh!

David Bowie's "STARMAN!"

They're not showing that commercial now, and I don't know the song THAT well. It doesn't exactly jump to mind, unless I hear about the fat-skinny people or the short-tall people. (Or the chorus, obviously.)

"Could you whisper in my ear, the things you wanna feel?
I'd give you anything to feel it coming.
Do you wake up on your own, and wonder where you are?
You live with all your faults."

"I don't suppose I'll ever know what it means to be a man.
It's something I can't change. I'll live around it."

"Don't you love the life you killed? The priest is on the phone. Your father hit the wall. Your ma disowned you.I don't suppose I'll ever know what it means to be a man.
It's something I can't change. I'll live around it.

I want to wake up where you are.  I won't say anything at all."[/b]

"And I'll do anything you ever dreamed to be complete.
Little pieces of the nothing that fall.
Oh, May.
Put your arms around me.
What you feel is what you are-and what you are is beautiful.
Oh, May.
Do you wanna get married or run away?"

Ok, switching songs. SAME ARTIST, DIFFERENT SONG.

"And I'd give up forever to touch you, 'cause I know that you feel me somehow.
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be, and I don't wanna go home right now."

~Aerosmith~  Don't Want to Miss a Thing

No, although both songs share a similar pace and sentiment, they're not the same, and they don't sound like similar songs when played one after the other.

You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be, and I don't wanna go home right now."

"And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming, or the moment of truth in your lies.
When everything feels like the movies- yeah, you bleed just to know you're alive."

You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be, and I don't wanna go home right now.And all I could taste is this moment. And all I can breathe is your life. And sooner or later, it's over.  I just don't wanna miss you tonight."

"And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming, or the moment of truth in your lies.

This is one of those songs whose title is not in the lyrics.  It was on the soundtrack to a movie.

"And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am."

That's the best-remembered part. These are also all the lyrics, not counting repetition.

This was featured prominently in the soundtrack for the movie "City of Angels."

There is a line "I'm always thinkin of ya" in ~We Five's~ song "Sit Down I Think I Love You" but I doubt this is that song.
