Summer,it turns me upside down
Summer, summer, summer
It's like a merry go round
I see you under the midnight
All shackles and bows
High shoes with the cleats a clickin'
A tempermental glow

It's getting to the point
Where I'm no fun anymore
I am sorry
Sometimes it hurts so badly
I must cry out loud
I am lonely
I'm wondering how come this isn't striking a bell with anyone?
"Friday evening, Sunday in the afternoon
What have you got to lose?
Tuesday morning, please be gone I'm tired of you.
What have you got to lose?
Can I tell it like it is? (Help me I'm suffering)
Listen to me baby.
It's my heart that's a suffering (Help me I'm dying)
It's a dying, that's what I have to lose
I've got an answer
I'm going to fly away
What have I got to lose?
Will you come see me Thursdays and Saturdays?
What have you got to lose"?

You got it. I know you know who the artist was so Nathan_Jr, now it's your turn. But in this thread unlike Songs Remembered from Just one line, it is a requirement here to name the artist along with the song title. Or any cover artist will be fine also.

Ok. Got it. I conflated the two games  The artist is Crosby, Stills & Nash. This was pre- Neil Young joining, right?
Well, my name is a number
A piece of plastic film
And I'm growin' funny flowers

Yes it was.  This is something say, from the 90's or newer maybe? I might have heard it before. It seems vaguely familiar.
Hmmm...the 90's... it was used in one of the top ten greatest films of the 90's, but it was not published on the soundtrack album, probably because the neophyte filmmakers couldn't afford the rights. Definitely not written or recorded in the 90's.

That narrows it down to 'Ghost', 'Terminator 2', 'Aladdin', 'Jurassic Park', 'The Lion King', 'Die Hard w/ a Vengeance', 'Independence Day', 'Titanic', 'Armageddon', or 'Star Wars: Epi. 1' they were the number one box office movies from the 90's. I don't really have a clue yet.

Ahhh. But were those the GREATEST?
Of course, my assertion is bull$hit because it's subjective. Though, I do think the 90's were as important as the 70's for American cinema, but that's a discussion I'd be happy to have on another thread,
Neophyte filmmakers is your clue. Their first film. Before they were star actors/writers/directors. Indie film. Cult classic now. James Caan would have been the only recognizable star at the release of the film, 1996.
Obviously no, 'Pulp Fiction' isn't up there. Those were the top grossing movies, which doesn't mean anything really in terms of quality. I mean people think Starbucks is great coffee, and Dominoes is great pizza. They don't know what good is.

Bingo. There's a difference between what we like and what we know to be great. The aficionado or connoisseur is aware of that distinction. I may not care for hip hop, it just may not be my thing, but I can recognize and appreciate the greatness of Dr. Dre, TuPac, JayZ.
Don't get me started on coffee. Or do. Starbucks is over roasted. It's burnt. I happen to not like it AND recognize that it's not good. But I know that not liking it has nothing to do with my judgement that it's not good. In the Pacific Northwest, that's just how they like their coffee, and I can recognize that, too.
The movie is Bottle Rocket, but I doubt that will help you with the song, unless you've watched it many times.

Don't know the title but then I never did like the stones to much. unless it was covered by Flying Burrito brothers also which would make it dead flowers but I think that's another song.

Ok, this last song was from the one-hit wonder, the Verve Pipe, and it was their one hit, "FRESHMEN." I'll go back to 1985 and earlier. Â
