Its a song by Leo Sayer I think. Wrong! Year of the Cat is the name of the song. I can feel my life running like a river through something like that. OH NO I've already had my one time freebie without an author, Looks like I'm doomed.

Al Stewart. (I don't think naming the artist is required, is it?)
Technically, it is, for this thread. If more than one artist recorded it, then any one would be correct. (Unless differences in the lyrics identify a particular artist.)
Are you serious! AREN'T THERE ANY out there WHO have the foggiest idea what song this? Not a clue?
One thing should be noted here is that this musician, or musical group tends to have lyrics that are hard to distinguish. So I give most of you some slack.
But really, had I used this lyric (Cruisin' on thru the junction, i'm flyin' 'bout the speed of sound), in the song remembered from one line thread, I think IT should qualify.
I read the first line and immediately hear the song by The Band.

It was played on album oriented stations so that counts. I remember it I just can't think of the song right now

Don't know the title but then I never did like the stones to much. unless it was covered by Flying Burrito brothers also which would make it dead flowers but I think that's another song.

Once beneath the stars, the universe was ours. Love was all we knew, and all I knew was you. I wonder where you are, I wonder if you think about me Once upon a time, IN YOUR WILDEST DREAMS. It mig

"Listen, boy- I don't want to see you let a good thing slip away.
You know I don't like watching anybody make the same mistakes I made.
She's a real nice girl and she's always there for you,
But a nice girl wouldn't tell you what you should do.
Listen boy I'm sure that you think you got it all under control.
You don't want somebody telling you the way to stay in someone's soul.
You're a big boy now and you'll never let her go-
But that's just the kind of thing she ought to know."

Listen, boy-it's good information from a man who's made mistakes...
Just a word or two that she gets from you could be the difference that it takes.
She's a trusting soul, she's put her trust in you
But a girl like that won't tell you what you should do."
I'm a little surprised. This song was hardly a "niche" release....

Tell Her About It
I needed the artist's name plus several verses to finally get it. You're right, the song was a big hit (though it was never one of my favorites).

I turned away to see her, woa! she caught my eye,
But i was rollin' down, movin' too fast;
Do you wanna, she was thinkin' can it last.

Your right waysider. Sweet Hitchhiker. I'll give it to you.
Sweet hitch-a-hiker,
We could make music at the greasy king.
Sweet hitch-a-hiker,
Won't you ride on my fast machine?
Huh! It's got a greasy theme!

Very well waysider.
I'll light the fire, you put the flowers in the vase that you bought today.
Staring at the fire for hours and hours while I listen to you
Play your love songs all night long for me, only for me.
