Originally performed by Les McCann and Eddie Harris, it's also been done by Brian Auger and the Oblivion Express, and I think Grover Washington Jr. and a few other jazz groups.
The lyrics are as appropo today as when they were written in the late '60s, I think.

Don't know the title but then I never did like the stones to much. unless it was covered by Flying Burrito brothers also which would make it dead flowers but I think that's another song.

Once beneath the stars, the universe was ours. Love was all we knew, and all I knew was you. I wonder where you are, I wonder if you think about me Once upon a time, IN YOUR WILDEST DREAMS. It mig

I was born in a cross fire hurricane...
But it's alright now, in fact it's a gas,
But it's alright
"Jumpin' Jack Flash" is a gas, gas, gas
by Mick Jagger and the boys.

That would be Going Up The Country by Canned Heat.
It was "derived" from this 1928 recording by Henry Thomas called Bull Doze Blues.

sure... here's an easy one...
On a morning from a Bogart movie
In a country where they turn back time
You go strolling through the crowd like Peter Lorre
Contemplating a crime

I know the title - not the artist.
I'll wait and see if anyone else solves it first.

Oh man!!
Not long after this song came out (197x?), I was working night stock in a major grocery store.
This song was in heavy rotation on the store's music system.
I must have heard it a thousand times.(every night!!)
(Another one they played to death was Down On Main Street by Jerry Rafferty)
It just wouldn't be fair for me to answer this one.

It sounds familiar - especially the line about Peter Lorre,
but I don't know either the name of the song or the artist.
I'm stumped.

This one was covered by a number of artists,
name anyone of them you prefer:
Unwed mothers need abortion
Kind of brings to mind ol' young King Tut -- he did it now

My bad I guess.
This is a sorta modern jazz "standard" almost. I guess there aren't many Jazzoids around these parts.
