There's no official date cut-off for this thread, but it is true that most of us playing are older and remember songs from our youth better than the ones booming out of some kid's car. :D

Is it Some Kind of Wonderful---- Grand Funk Railroad?
Obviously, there are a lot of tunes on the airwaves that I never heard (or at least, never paid attention to). There are also songs that have a lot of regional airplay. Back in the 70's, I remember a song about Lake Shore Drive. It got a LOT of airplay in Chicago, but I doubt anyone outside of Illinois, Indiana, or Wisconsin ever heard it!
Irisheyes, can you give us a general timeframe for your song?

Don't know the title but then I never did like the stones to much. unless it was covered by Flying Burrito brothers also which would make it dead flowers but I think that's another song.

My hearing aid works perfect.
My bifocals are fine.
I really love my dentures,
But Lord how I miss my mind.
(Not a song or answer---just me rambling.)
I don't mind taking a shot at newer stuff.
(But I'm no marksman, by any means.)

Okay. That was "The One" by Elton John.
Here's an oldie for you spinsters:
Have another Chivas Regal
You're 12 years old and sex is legal
Your parents don't know where or who you are
BTW, 1986 is 21 years ago!

That's not a RULE, but a general "rule-of-thumb" I came up with for myself.
Seems most times I post something after 1986, I can post the whole song and nobody
gets it. Around Halloween was the last time I tried to disregard my personal "rule",
and we had about a week where I was posting songs nobody'd heard of.

Yes. I've pretty much stayed the same build for 25 years. (I was quite skinny before that.)

Need some more info?
Have another Chivas Regal
You're 12 years old and sex is legal
Your parents don't know where or who you are
Great big wars in little places
Look at all those frightened faces
But don't come here
We just don't have the room
Love thy neighbor's wife and daughter
cleanse yourself with holy water
We don't need to bathe
We've got perfume

Sounds kind of like VP's motor coach (if you replace the Chivas with Drambuie)!

Actually, we're supposed to guess the title AND artist. But I've got nothing here.

What I meant by that was if I give you the artist, would that help guess the title? How about there were two artists?

I had no clue on the first one, IrishEyes - and got no clue on this one either.
I looked up "Used to Be" by Stevie Wonder on You Tube and don't believe I've ever heard that song before.
I saw the words "holy water" and thought, at first, it might be this song, but the rest of the lyrics did not sound right.
Thanks for the "something new" :)

Nope! It would be considered bubble gum to Grand Funk.

Alright! Clue time? The singer has only one name (and it's not Cher). I really thought this was a give away.

Well I tossed in the towel and giggled it.
MAN! This one was a HUGE hit.
It STILL gets lots and lots of airplay.
Can't believe it stumped me.

I too gave up and I would have to agree with waysider that it was too big a hit for me to easilyoverlook. Good one
