Did Diana do that? I think that Marvin Gaye / Tammy Terrel got the most airtime with it. I thought that that would be an easy one. Good job, girl! It's all your's Suda!(Don't know what I'm doing wrong, but the clickable link works) Hey, it works! Thanks bulwinkle!
I have no idea what the tune is but I wanted to jump in and say that I think Marvin and Tammy were perhaps the best matched duo to ever step before a microphone. Their history together was short but oh, what an impact they made!
waysider, I agree (and I also have no inkling on Suda's clue). Linda Ronstadt and Aaron Neville did some nice stuff, too, but Marvin and Tammy were something else.
If it gets airtime in DE.... maybe I'm just not listening. I'm an oldiesfan just because I can't keep up and also keep up with the lawnmowing. It's gonna be a scorcher today, and my grass is approaching knee high. Maybe I can wear earphones
Sounds like Bonnie Raitt in "Something To Talk About" or "Let's Give Them Something to Talk About". Not sure of the exact title. Gets lots of play here in TN'ville.

It was played on album oriented stations so that counts. I remember it I just can't think of the song right now

Don't know the title but then I never did like the stones to much. unless it was covered by Flying Burrito brothers also which would make it dead flowers but I think that's another song.

First verse of lyrics I posted above:
Well he used to be mine
Not so very long ago
I was crazy to ever let him get away
But girl you should know better
Then to go braggin' in my face
So forgive me for what I'm 'bout to say

Chorus:
Big deal
So what? Who cares?
Ya just got lucky that's all it was
Shut up
Don't wanta hear another word about
Candelight and long stem roses
And how you're fallin' head over heels
In love, so what?
Big deal
Clue, name of the song appears twice in the chorus.
Clue, I like the version by Leann Rimes.
Suda (gets airplay here in TN, guess cause of Nashville)

talkin' 'bout people
I hear them whisper
you won't believe it
They say we're lovers....

Correct waysider.
Your lyrics sound familiar. Will think about them, and post if I think of the name.

you know... that's sounding vaguely familiar... I must warn you, I missed most of the eighties, nineties, and oughts!
Come to think of it, I missed most of the sixties, too, but for another reason.
