I knew that and just wrote it so wrong. I was actually singing it in my head as I was writing it and it came out that way.. Gawd... so silly... lol and you would've had to see that mistake heheheh ;)
"It's My Life" was a more recent hit - within this decade.
BTW - did you ever hear the spoof song to "Living On A Prayer"? It's "Living Off My Hair" - one line goes "Take my advice, make videos with Cher, Ohhh-oooh, we're living off my hair-air...."
ahhh sooo... the Bon Jovi thing... I see them whenever they're the band playing at a sporting even on the television... do every one of their songs have that "mouth/guitar" sound in them?

It was played on album oriented stations so that counts. I remember it I just can't think of the song right now

Don't know the title but then I never did like the stones to much. unless it was covered by Flying Burrito brothers also which would make it dead flowers but I think that's another song.

Once beneath the stars, the universe was ours. Love was all we knew, and all I knew was you. I wonder where you are, I wonder if you think about me Once upon a time, IN YOUR WILDEST DREAMS. It mig

Yeah, I'll say that's close enough.
======================
Lynryd Skynryd's "Gimme Three Steps".
"
I was cutting the rug Down at a place called The Jug
With a girl named Linda Lu.
When in walked a man With a gun in his hand
And he was looking for you know who.
He said, "Hey there fellow, With the hair colored yellow,
Watcha tryin' to prove?
'Cause that's my woman there And I'm a man who cares
And this might be all for you."
I was scared and fearing for my life.
I was shakin' like a leaf on a tree.
'Cause he was lean, mean, Big and bad, Lord,
Pointin' that gun at me.
I said, "Wait a minute, mister, I didn't even kiss her.
Don't want no trouble with you.
And I know you don't owe me But I wish you'd let me
Ask one favor from you."
(Chorus)
"Won't you give me three steps, Gimme three steps mister,
Gimme three steps towards the door?
Gimme three steps Gimme three steps mister,
And you'll never see me no more."
Well the crowd cleared away And I began to pray
As the water fell on the floor.
And I'm telling you son, Well, it ain't no fun
Staring straight down a forty-four.
Well he turned and screamed at Linda Lu
And that's the break I was looking for.
And you could hear me screaming a mile away
As I was headed out towards the door.
"Won't you give me three steps, Gimme three steps mister,
Gimme three steps towards the door?
Gimme three steps Gimme three steps mister,
And you'll never see me no more." "
=============
Too recognizable, I think the others were saying.
(Hard to strike a balance there...)

I think when you play it backwards it's "I buried Paul" or "I'm very bored"

Ok.. here's a few hints
It was in the late 80's
The band is still playing music today
Lead singer?? VERY hot in his day and IMO still is
Here's more Lyrics..
I'd steal the sun from the sky for you....
It's on a classic CD called "CrossRoad"
Come on Tom.... I know you can do it

The line sounds familiar.
The clues eliminated INXS and the Grateful Dead, who lost their lead singers.
(And Jerry Garcia was never "very hot.")
A lot of "classic rock" bands werent together in the late 80s-
like Led Zeppelin. Bands like Twisted Sister are out because Dee Snider
was never "very hot" either.
But I'd need another line to work out who's left.
I'm thinking it was a band who FORMED in the '80s,
not someone like the Rolling Stones.

Rock Band from New Jersey
Started out in 1983
Last hit song was " Have a Nice day"
More lyrics....
These 5 words I say to you..... the next line is the name of the song.

It appears to me that Chas got it first (or at least gave the answer first), so we should play her clue.

Tom - that effect is called a Talk Box - it's been used frequently by Bon Jovi (guitarist - Richie Sambora) but I think Frampton really put it on the map. Kid Rock, Cher, Pink Floyd, and Faith Hill have all used it - it's a neat effect.
