<_< Oh, I know that song... it's one of those songs that will make me reach for the "scan" button on the radio quicker than anything... (I'll let someone else have it...)
That is absolutely a beautiful song, Tom! Geddy Lee has a very unique voice. Some people hate it but I think he sounds great, even with his mild speech impediment.
The song is Tai Shan by Rush. Yes, I had to pull out my disc to find the name, so is that cheating?

I'd say not. You knew the artist, you had the album.

Please post the next song.
If you listen close, he has a lisp. (I guess that is a speech impediment). I still like his voice though. Kinda like Dylan, some people love his voice, and some people hate it.
My friends tell me, that Ive been such a fool,
And I have to stand by and take it baby, all for lovin you.

It is an incredibly beautiful song... Neal Peart writes some amazing stuff and then the way Lee and Leifsen put it to music almost makes you miss it... but this song, IMO, everything was beautiful: the words, the music, the phrasing...
And of course you were right, it was on "Hold Your Fire", late eighties Rush... (and I wouldn't call it cheating either)...
oh... and nice choice for a new clue! I'll let some of the (other) old timers answer...
Saw them live with blues traveller and 4 other bands who's names escape me now. Allman Bro's was the last act and Whippin' post was the encore. Dickie Betts was back with them and every song they did, of course was a never ending jam. But Whippin' post, man, they must have streached that out for more than 20 minutes! It was great!

Don't know the title but then I never did like the stones to much. unless it was covered by Flying Burrito brothers also which would make it dead flowers but I think that's another song.

Once beneath the stars, the universe was ours. Love was all we knew, and all I knew was you. I wonder where you are, I wonder if you think about me Once upon a time, IN YOUR WILDEST DREAMS. It mig

Chas was correct.
You, I'm confident enough NOT to check at the moment.
Your turn. :)

aw heck... I'll just post the whole dang song... cuz if you know it, you know it... nowutahmeen?
(if you aren't familiar with this song... it is really beautiful)
High on the sacred mountain
Up the seven thousand stairs
In the golden light of autumn
There was magic in the air
The clouds surrounded the summit
The wind blew strong and cold
Among the silent temples
And the writing carved in gold
Somewhere in my instincts
The primitive took hold
I stood at the top of the mountain
And China sang to me
In the peaceful haze of harvest time
A song of eternity
If you raise your hands to heaven
You will live a hundred years
I stood there like a mystic
Lost in the atmosphere
The clouds were suddenly parted
For a moment I could see
The patterns of the landscape
Reaching to the eastern sea
I looked upon a presence
Spanning forty centuries
I stood at the top of the mountain
And China sang to me
In the peaceful haze of harvest time
A song of eternity
I thought of time and distance
The hardships of history
I heard the hope and the hunger
When China sang to me...
When China sang to me

Of course it's not a problem... and in that case I'll guess... hmmm ... something written by Jim Stienman
Two out of three ain't bad... sung by Meat Loaf (real name Marvin Aday, from Dallas)
And now... a four word clue to one of the seminal songs of my generation:
CALL OUT THE INSTIGATOR
