"I'm a Believer" by the Monkees (and covered recently). It was written by Neil Diamond, and was actually his biggest hit.
Interesting that you picked that line. I always thought it was "When I needed sunshine on my brain," which made sense in a 60's kind of way. I found out the real lyrics while doing karaoke.

It was played on album oriented stations so that counts. I remember it I just can't think of the song right now

Don't know the title but then I never did like the stones to much. unless it was covered by Flying Burrito brothers also which would make it dead flowers but I think that's another song.

Once beneath the stars, the universe was ours. Love was all we knew, and all I knew was you. I wonder where you are, I wonder if you think about me Once upon a time, IN YOUR WILDEST DREAMS. It mig

Perhaps you're thinking of one of its covers.
The original was getting airplay before I was born!
"My heart cries out, 'More, baby',
It feels so nice, I want your arms to wrap around me twice"
"Whenever we kiss, I get a feeling like this,
I get to wishing that there were two of you"
"I only wish the night was twice as long"
The keyboard work on the original would ring a bell, if I could play it.

I played it on iTunes and you are right the keyboards are very distinctive like another of their hits.

I love you so much,
I wish that there was more of you to touch"

Hm.
At this rate, I might have to switch to a different song by the
same artist- but I'm sure someone here somewhere knows this song.

Correct!
The most recent cover of this song was by Smash Mouth.
It appeared on "Astro Lounge" along with "All-Star"
(off of "Mystery Men")
and was itself off of the movie "Can't Hardly Wait".
It's easier to remember when you see Jennifer Love Hewitt clowning
around in the video.
The original release of the song was in the late 60s by
Question Mark and the Mysterians.
Their hit "96 Tears" had just put them in the spotlight,
and their very trademark keyboard-work makes it easy to
recognize the artist for one based on the riffs of the other.
Do you know the record company tried to convince this artist
to change the title to "Romeo in Black Jeans?"
I can't figure out the reason-
it's a knot I have yet to untie.
But I'll let someone else take first crack at the song.

Fine, I'll put Chas out of her misery.
This is "NO MYTH" by Michael Penn.
You know his brother, Sean Penn.
I really liked this song when it came out, too.
I've got the cassingle somewhere.
And considered putting it up on this thread. :)

Here's a different song.
"When I needed sunshine, I got rain"

Correct!
Neil Diamond song (did he ever perform it or just write it?)
performed (covered?) by the Monkees,
and again by Smash Mouth for Shrek's soundtrack.
They did 2 versions of the video- one with the Monkees style with a
campy chase scene,
the other with characters from Shrek in it.
Hm.
This new one, I think we may have done this one in the last
few months.

And Neil Diamond actually recorded "I'm a Believer," but I think he did so after the Monkees (since he wrote it for the show).
