Cab Calloway originally did "Minnie the Moocher" he also reprised it with the BBB at the at the Palace Theatre to open the BB" Mission from God" show...Cab played the school Janitor in the BB movie
That was Crystal Gayle doing "Midnight in the Desert" a song that she wrote for and about her favorite night-time radio personality, Art Bell back about 5-6 years ago.
here is one...read it close, because there were pretenders....
"Then somewhere near Salinas, Lord, I let her slip away,
She was lookin’ for the love I hope she’ll find"
I'm not sure I'm playing the game right, so excuse me if I've messed things up.
Kris Kristopherson sang Me and Bobby McGee with those lyrics. I'm not sure those were his original lyrics, since I found lyrics that were similar where the word "love" was replaced for "home". It was best when Janis sang it though.
If I'm right, I don't want a turn yet, wasway still your turn, if I'm wrong then it doesn't matter :) I'll keep watching.
that's what I get for typing without listening.... HERE it is. Personally, I kinda like this version (maybe its because I can sing along with it without my wife looking weirdly at me)
don't be too hard on yourself gc... I look sometimes "to verify"... I wouldn't want to post the wrong words as a clue... as for answering the clue... most of them are pretty easy for me (as long as they're not country western!)...
and welcome to GSC! (don't chew any of the gum you find under the table)

Don't know the title but then I never did like the stones to much. unless it was covered by Flying Burrito brothers also which would make it dead flowers but I think that's another song.

Once beneath the stars, the universe was ours. Love was all we knew, and all I knew was you. I wonder where you are, I wonder if you think about me Once upon a time, IN YOUR WILDEST DREAMS. It mig

...and sang the song IN the Blues Brothers movie, as well.
I once saw a Betty Boop cartoon posted online, featuring this song
and a VERY young Cab Calloway shown singing it briefly before
the cartoon proper began.
Your turn, wasway.

I had to really get to the bottom of the Sack O' Songs for this one.
As the world we live in quickens
Are we heeding all the signs?
Have we lost our intuition?
Are we running out of time?
This song has a cult following...of sorts

This magical journey
Will take us on a ride
Filled with the longing
Searching for the truth
Will we make it 'til tomorrow?
Will the sun shine on you?

Shirley, you know this... it'll be rattling around in your brain...
I once had a girl, Or should I say She once had me.
She showed me her room, Isn’t it good?
_________ _____.
She asked my to stay and told me sit anywhere,
So I looked around and I noticed there wasn’t a chair.
