Bluze... why do you keep speaking of NY in the past tense?
You know, I guess it's cause I just don't even think of him as being "around" anymore. I mean, I know he's still alive, but you just don't hear much about him anymore.
He did some stuff that I thought really sucked in the late 80's, then him and Crazy Horse went on tour again, and that is pretty much the last I've heard of him.
Oh, Wasway...on this board you just come out and answer it. So name the tune and the artist if you know it, then post another one for us! And by the way, the lyrics sound like a good idea to me.

Don't know the title but then I never did like the stones to much. unless it was covered by Flying Burrito brothers also which would make it dead flowers but I think that's another song.

Dude... I already thought highly of you... and it just went up a notch...
One of my all time favorites of the wordsmith known as Neil Young:
"Last Trip To Tulsa"
Well, I used to drive a cab, you know
I heard a siren scream
Pulled over to the corner
And I fell into a dream
There were two men eating pennies
And three young girls who cried
The West coast is falling,
I see rocks in the sky.
The preacher took his bible
And laid it on the stool.
He said: with the congregation running,
Why should I play the fool?
Well, I used to be a woman, you know
I took you for a ride,
I let you fly my airplane
It looked good for your pride.
'Cause you're
the kind of man you know
Who likes what he says.
I wonder what's it's like
To be so far over my head.
Well, the lady made the wedding
And she brought along the ring.
She got down on her knees
And said: Let's get on with this thing.
Well, I used to be a folk singer
Keeping managers alive,
When you saw me on a corner
And told me I was jive.
So I unlocked your mind, you know
To see what I could see.
If you guarantee the postage,
I'll mail you back the key.
Well I woke up in the morning
With an arrow through my nose
There was an Indian in the corner
Tryin' on my clothes.
Well, I used to be asleep you know
With blankets on my bed.
I stayed there for a while
'Til they discovered I was dead.
The coroner was friendly
And I liked him quite a lot.
If I hadn't 've been a woman
I guess I'd never have been caught.
They gave me back my house and car
And nothing more was said.
Well, I was driving down the freeway
When my car ran out of gas.
Pulled over to the station
But I was afraid to ask.
The servicemen were yellow
And the gasoline was green.
Although I knew I couldn't
I thought that I was gonna scream.
That was on my last trip to Tulsa
Just before the snow.
If you ever need a ride there,
Be sure to let me know.
I was chopping down a palm tree
When a friend dropped by to ask
If I would feel less lonely
If he helped me swing the axe.
I said: No, it's not a case of being lonely
We have here, I've been working on this palm tree
For eighty seven years
I said: No, it's not a case of being lonely
We have here, I've been working on this palm tree
For eighty seven years
He said: Go get lost!
And walked towards his Cadillac.
I chopped down the palm tree
And it landed on his back.
Oh how I wish you could HEAR it in the original!!!
It was on "After the Gold Rush" I think...
Did you guys notice the line: "That was on my last trip to Tulsa Just before the snow."
HMMMMMM????
It's your turn Rick.

I'm not going to wait forever to see if the artist was remembered.
That's "Hey Nineteen", all right, and that's a Steely Dan song.
Here's a more recent song I happened to be thinking of.
"What would an angel say, the devil wants to know."

well now that you say that... of course it all comes back to me... yeah.. steely dan... was it on "Aja"?
I've got no clue about the next song... of course I don't live too much in the world of "recent music"...

Hey Ninteen came out on Gaucho (I THINK that's spelled right!) which was the next album after Aja, Tom.

Is it from "Virgilio Awakes"?
Is it some sort of religious song?

Not even a little bit.
MTV played the video for this song.
As did VH1, I believe.
The redemption was on a relationship-level.

The artist who did this song also released an album with the following title:
"When the pawn hits the conflicts, he thinks like a king.
What he knows throws the blows when he goes to the fight-
and he'll win the whole thing before he enters the ring.
There's no body to better when your mind is your might.
So when you go solo, you hold your own hand,
and remember that depth is the greatest of heights.
And if you know where you stand, then you know where to land.
And if you fall it won't matter, 'cause you'll know that you're right."
======
("That's the TITLE? Then you must take a few weeks out sometime
and sing it for us.")
This artist is also supposedly the favourite musician
of Officer Bar-Brady, on South Park.
When Barbra Streistand was in the town, he didn't pay
her any real attention because she wasn't this artist.

"Don't you tell me to deny it.
I've done wrong and I want to suffer for my sins.
I've come to you 'cause I need guidance to be true
And I just don't know where I can begin."
"Heaven help me for the way I am.
Save me from these evil deeds
Before I get them done.
I know tomorrow brings the consequence at hand,
But I keep living this day like the next will never come."
"Let me know the way before there's hell to pay.
Give me room to lay the law and let me go.
I've got to make a play
to make my lover stay
What would an angel say, the devil wants to know.
What I need is a good defense, "
"I need to be redeemed
To the one I've sinned against
Because he's all I ever knew of love."

Yellowcard, AFAIK, is a VERY recent band.
THIS song is from the middle-to-late 90s.
I'm really hoping someone walks in and name this.
I'd hate to consider this round fruitless.
That wouldn't be a crime, but it would be up there.
