I haven't the foggiest idea what EITHER of you is talking about!

That's because you're young my friend. The song title is "Epitaph", the band is King Crimson and Ian MacDonald and Peter and Michael Giles went out on their own (from King Crimson and Robert Fripp) and did their own stuff... which was a BIG part of the 'sound' on the first King Crimson album (I don't remember if it was before the second KC album or the third)...
An intimate knowledge of King Crimson was integral to ... uhh I forget... that whole period from Nixon to Reagan is still just a blur...but I think that it was somehow important...
Tom,
Ian McDonald and Robert Fripp use to come to town a lot after the KC split and play at the Agora in Columbus. Sometimes they played seperately and occasionally (when money got tight, I guess) Michael Giles would join them for the manditory reunion tour..
Do you remember the Mike Quatro Jam Band from Detroit? They covered ITCOTCK in the mid 70's..Did a pretty good job, too.
When ever we go to one of those uppity restaurants, I still always ask for " A lark's tongue in aspic" for an appetizer... still haven't been able to get it, though.. but I do get some pretty strange looks from the waiters.

Don't know the title but then I never did like the stones to much. unless it was covered by Flying Burrito brothers also which would make it dead flowers but I think that's another song.

Once beneath the stars, the universe was ours. Love was all we knew, and all I knew was you. I wonder where you are, I wonder if you think about me Once upon a time, IN YOUR WILDEST DREAMS. It mig

Sorry wasway... didn't see the "clue" earlier...
Confusion will be my epitaph.
As I crawl a cracked and broken path
If we make it we can all sit back
And laugh.
But I fear tomorrow I’ll be crying,
Yes I fear tomorrow I’ll be crying.
I used lines from KC in my signatures when I first came to GSC.
Did you ever give "MacDonald and Giles" a listen?
P.S. didn't we just do this one? Or was that "In the Court of the Crimson King"?

I thought we did this one a while ago... but maybe I was dreaming...
It's "The Shape of Things to Come" by Max Frost and the Troopers isn't it? (from the movie "Wild in the Streets")
...never trust anyone over 30

OK... here's one for verbal... and I'll give you two stanzas...
They were burning all the flares for candles
In the banquet they were throwing in first class
And we were blowing waltzes in the ballroom
When the Universe went CRASH!
"There's no way that this could happen."
I could hear the old Captain curse
He ordered lifeboats away, that when I heard the
Chaplain say," women, and Children, and Chaplains first."

OK then... here's another stanza...

In the banquet they were throwing in first class

When the Universe went CRASH!
"There's no way that this could happen."
I could hear the old Captain curse

Well they soon used up all of the lifeboats, but there were a lot of us
left on board
I heard the drummer saying,"Boys just keep playing, Now were doing this
gig for the Lord."

I'm stumped. Sounds like the story of the Titanic, although the drummer is throwing me off.
Maybe a steamboat on the Mississippi?

Gotta be a Jimmy Buffet, since I think I know most of Croce's work. Could be Chapin, but I doubt it.
Whichever, I'm lost.

Ok sorry I fell asleep...
This one is gonna be tough, as it was WAY out of Character for the band that did it.
"America was stunned on May 4, 1970
When rally turned to riot up at Kent State University
They said the students scared the Guard
Though the troops were battle dressed
Four martyrs earned a new degree
The Bachelor of Bullets
I know we're all fed up with useless wars and racial strife
But next time there's a riot, well, you best stay out of sight"

I'll take a wild swing,
and guess that this is an extended version of some kind,
of Neil Young's "Ohio."
