I read the TWI official site (twice) first thing I noticed was that they dont really say what they expect a person to actually do when they have joined, much like the JW official site. You have to join to learn.
Can someone let me know where I can by way books please?
Yeah, I think you've got the basic flavor figured out.
It's sort of Amway for Jesus. A little 60s pop-psychology, a little Billy Sunday-style preaching, and maybe a dash of Masonic Order-type "We have truths the world knows not of".
Mix well, add in a generous dose of San Francisco style philosophy of free love and free thinking (at least during the early 70s)
and an upbeat message that God not only loves you but will give you ANYTHING you want, money, power, job, joy, peace, and ETERNAL SECURITY, and you've got your basic PFAL mindset.
WordWolf, sorry about the wrong forum thing, noted.
Can the thread be moved to the correct forum to preserve the contiuity? I am admin on one of the forums I frequent and moving threads is possible there.
Example, a JW is taught to be meek and mild, never to show loss of temper, do the presentation and walk away if the other person shows no interest or gets abusive,(basically).
During the 90s, losing one's temper was almost a prerequisite as the then-president lost his regularly. IMO, the short answer is imitate the person in charge. In fact, imitate them as much as possible in lifestyle, mannerisms, etc. and you will be viewed as very spiritual. No substance necessary. Oh, yes, look busy too.
If you're chuckling, know that I am too. However, it is true. I saw many climb the ladder in The Way by doing this.

Ha! True! Used to sell Shaklee stuff (Amway's competiton). Maybe being in the "muti level marketing" got me prepped for "multi-level preaching".
Wonder if I should sue Shaklee? -->
PJ? Anyone? :D-->

High price of the docvic books on e-bay.
About the only place you can get them these days.
They gave away a lot at the "bookstore" there in Ohio back whenever.

Searcher.
Ive ordered mine thru Amazon. They werent cheap, and Excathedra has generously sent me some also.
If you are interested in their doctrine you are in for a treat. It is most passing STRANGE doctrine to a pair of dub eyes.
Ive only read one book so far- "Power for Abundant living". Ive done a couple threads reviewing it in 'doctrinal'.

WAY too expensive! :D-->
It would have been nice to read what they actually offer/expect. I guess I will have to miss out on that, no worries.

Rafael Olmeda did an excellent thread reviewing the "Blue" book. I'll find it when I get home and send you a link.

A review of the "About the Way" forum threads
and the twi Doctrine archives should give you all the content you need
without subjecting you to the actual books.
You DON'T need the books. Really.
Oh, and next time, please post this in "About the Way" since this is
"About the Way". The Open forum is for everything that there isn't a
specific forum for.

Transcending the decades by colors of books. -->
White book -- Receiving the Holy Spirit
Orange book -- PFAL
Blue book -- The Bible Tells Me So
Green book --New Dynamic Church
Orange book with brown binding -- Word's Way
Tan book with dark brown binding--God's Magnified Word
2 books with same color --
Are the Dead Alive Now; and
Jesus Christ, our Promised Seed -- both blue.
and also the 2 red books --
Jesus Christ Our Passover, and
Order my Steps in thy Word.
Looks like a rainbow flag to me. Maybe lcm got paranoid seeing all this color! :D-->
And don't forget the Yellow book -- Jesus Christ is NOT God.

Some people are real tetchy about it, and I may be one of the loudest. I don't think most
care too much, unless you start piling a stack of them in the wrong forum.
In the "About the Way" forum, it woul be a LOT easier to direct you to other threads on
related subjects to what you asked, and people looking to discuss this would be able to
find it. I'm sure you knew that already. :)-->

Sorry to have "continued" on here WW. You are right about the "Forum Location", but I see Searcher, as doing just that, searching.
Admirable to keep on looking, but still a new site, and he/she is not used to the labels yet.
btw -- good job of pointing to the correct "locale" for info desired! :)-->

How is one taught to 'preach' in TWI?

When I was in (1970-86) we weren't taught how to preach. We were taught what to preach (the teachings of our leaders) but not how.
I never realized this till now.
