How about a "Shout Box"

i've only seen it on one site, but I like it.

It is a box that you can type text into at the top of the forum page. Its like a "Live headline box"

On Wednesday, our site was upgraded. The search function is actually working.

i saw a card in the card store (animal lovers section). it said "talk to the paw" (instead of "hand"). i thought of you paw !

Though I spend most of my time in the forums, I'd probably look over the documents, etc., more if there were some notification of updates. (Instead of looking through them all to see if something has been added.)
