Gumby began in 1956 or so, while Dennis the tv version began in 1959, though Dennis in the comics started in the early 50's.
It would seem that the Gumby theme preceded the Dennis theme, though there is a possibility that the theme was plugged onto the Gumby toons at a later date-I doubt that's the case.
It's a bit of a mystery to me, that I think I'll try to solve when I can come up for air.
You'll get better response if you post these videos like YouTube files, promise. First, you'll have more folks actually click on the link and secondly, it'll stream with the swfplayer for nearly everybody. BTW.. great clip. And P.S.. look at where I stuck the file. YOUR server! :)

I was beat to the "Dennis the Menace" theme. But did you know the same theme was also used for the 'Gumby' cartoons ?
I'm not sure which came first, of if the theme was 'public domain', and may be found other places yet.

I don't think I ever named that last one. Bonanza
This one is not old but I liked the theme and it's very easy to recognize.

I like that theme, tho I don't recognize it. I just don't watch tv much anymore I guess. I couldn't tell the difference between CSI and Law and Order.
On the other hand, I wonder if I ever left the tv set in the 60's-not that I'm proud of it.
There were actually words to the Bonanza theme, tho I'm not sure where to find them. Thankfully, they were never used on the show.

IMHO television today isn't too much to write home about outside of those forensic shows.
Is that Bonanza theme anything like the theme to MASH where it talks of suicide yet I still like the music?

as sung by Ben Cartwright-
We chased lady luck till we finally struck-Bonanza
With a rope and a gun and a hatful of hope
We planted our family tree
We got hold of a potful of gold-Bonanza
With a horse and a saddle and a ring full of cattle
How rich can a fella be?
On this land we put our brand
Cartwright is the name
Fortune smiled the day we filed
The Ponderosa claim
Here in the west we're living in the best-Bonanza
If anyone fights any one of us
He's gonna fight with me
Hoss and Joe and Adam know
Every rock and pine
Noone works, fights or eats
Like those boys of mine

Well that isn't a suicide theme like MASH then. :)

I just read that it's been 25 years this month since John Belushi passed away.
This is a big download but worth the wait. One of his funniest skits. Click HERE.

Rick,
Yup, that was the one I thought it was going to be. Not bad on that tomato cutting eh?
And on another note "No Pepsi, Coke!" "No fries, chips!"
And I swear they rocked as the Blues Brothers!
Very cool dude, thanks.

Okay, boys and girls, it's been a week. This will be pretty easy, but tell me who these folks are:
Hopefully, all six pics will show up!

Only 5 pics showed up, so I'm not sure where the 6th would fall in, and I can't place number 5.
The top 4 were once the Beaver, the Menace, the brat Partridge, and Wednesday.

Only three show up for me but I'm having problems this morning so that could be it. They are the ones hiwayman named also.

Neither of the women are showing up for me (at work). The second woman (5th pic) was not Wednesday.

There must be something about one of those links because my work place will not allow me access to it saying it is an ActiveX problem.

I'm sorry that you can't see them all, but here's the rundown (Hiway got most of them):
Jerry Mathers ("Beaver" Cleaver)
Jay North ("Dennis Mitchell")
Keshia Knight Pulliam ("Rudy Huxtable")
Danny Bonaduce ("Danny Partridge")
Dannielle Brisebois ("Stephanie Mills" on "All in the Family" and "Archie Bunker's Place")
Mike Lookinland ("Bobby Brady")
Some look a lot like their chilhood appearances. I wouldn't have recognized Jay North at all!
