I swear I'm so upset about this dang Ohio/Miami college football game that I am going to force myself to go to sleep while they still have a shot at a miracle. I just can't stand to hear the silence that will soon befall our city if not.
So when I read you I had to laugh not being sure if you were talking about my post or not. If you weren't it was adorable and got my nerves back in shape a tad.
We really wanted this championship.
I actually sound only half horrible when I sing in the shower, I wonder what that is all about anyway.
Uh, Ohio State isn't playing Miami. They are playing Florida and losing badly because... Florida is an SEC team. Big Ten just can't measure up to the SEC you know.
Geeze... sure sorry about your Ohio Tech or whatever losing to Florida but they should have KNOWN better than to schedule a football game with a Southern SEC team fer Heaven's sakes. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Alright.. I've gloated enough... I'm OK now. Uh.. lets see. Oh yes! The great choreography. I see Ca Dreaming thinks like I do a bit these are pieces of art and though maybe not as timeless as the choreography of Swan Lake its perfect Americana of 1933!! When I watch these old movies I sometimes think how old my mother and father were at the time. In this case, Momma was 4 and daddy was 8 years old. Very very few of the actors in those movies are around today of course and when I pull up their bios, I usually see that they died after I had already grown up. I remember Dick Powell on TV for instance in this case.
For those not able to really download large video files.. here's a pretty small MP3 of the finale. The show stopper that turned a movie into a broadway play and even a revival. Click HERE! the visual is fascinating, though.
My jazz band plays a lot of this music. We specialize in Dixieland and other 20's and 30's tunes, though we've broadened our horizons a bit, even playing music from as recently as the 60's!
Hmm.. I guess I should know that sort of thing. All I could think about, though, was how much foxier Linda Evans was in The Big Valley than in Dynasty. What happened?
Well guys.. here's the finale I've been promising. Now don't everybody go downloading at once but I think some of you will be impressed with the production values of a movie made in 1933. And as I've said.. a movie that inspired a Broadway play and not the other way around. I don't know how many times THAT has happened.
You guys can do this one of two ways. You can either just click on the link and see if your connection is fast enough to play it or you can 'right' click on the link, save it, and then watch it after its downloaded. It's large, though... nearly 60 meg. As I said.. this little editing job took me a lot of time and I'm doubting there's enough interest out there to justify it all but what the heck... I love old movies and stuff and hope SOMEONE gets a kick out of it.. click HERE!

I really enjoyed that clip, Sudo! With the possible exception of "Pennies from Heaven," when Steve Martin was in his "what movie genre can I imitate THIS time" phase, has anything like this been done in the last 30 years?
Eyes, Bluzeman? Oh, yeah, NOW I see them! Just a poor scan, I imagine.
For those who are still in the dark (and care to know), Ursula Andress, Linda Evans, and Bo Derek were all married to photographer/filmmaker John Derek. (As a subheading, he also photographed all three for Playboy.) On the set of "10," when Julie Andrews was told that Bo was John's new wife, she replied, "That makes 30!" :D
I'm glad you guys liked that. I know it starts off slow. Ruby Keeler is *NO* singer but it really gets to rocking later complete with Busby Berkeley's choreography. Interestingly to me.. the editing is quite poor in the film. Hiway29 noticed it in the piece I posted where Ginger Rogers flubs her lines.

Sudo,
Florida just played a dang good game and we didn't. It was nice to have made it that far though.

I'm not much for posting tunes, but I can handle pics! What do these three women have in common (other than the obvious)?

That was GOOD Sudo! Must have taken quite a while to rip and upload. I like that style of music too.
Why does Bo Derek look like she has 2 black eyes?

I agree, but what do you post when you do not know how to do the audio/film clip thing. I will ponder on this a little more.

Hi dreaming,
If I can get myself away from other things I could help you with that. But the master of this stuff has become that topoftheworld one.
I really do need to go to work at some point.

Let it be known, I'm NOT a fan of Christina Aguilera's. However, I REALLY like this song, however far out of her target audience I am.
HERE!
There is only one thing I was disappointed in was, the lack of a more extended break.
P.S. I liked the song BEFORE I saw the video :P
