During the British Invasion, particularly the Beatles part, Lennon and McCartney wrote songs for other groups. The song here was given to the group that would be their rivals for many years.
Mick Jagger and Keith Richards saw John and Paul when they had finally gotten a record deal and needed a followup hit to "Come On." They asked them if they had a song that they could record. They did and came down to the studio to demo it with them. The Stones liked it, but it wasn't finished. So while the Stones were talking, John and Paul went to a corner and finished the song.
Mick was amazed that they could do that and said so to Keith. Another song writing team was born.
The song was given to the Stones with the understanding that Ringo would be recording it, but it would not be a single.

What the talking doll said...
BECAUSE
(Dave Clark)
It's right that I should care about you
And try to make you happy when you're blue
It's right, it's right to feel the way I do
Because, because I love you
It's wrong to say I don't think of you
'Cause when you say these things
You know it makes me blue
Give me one kiss and I'll be happy
Just, just to be with you
Give me, give me, a chance to be near you
Because, because I love you
------ organ solo ------
Give me one kiss and I'll be happy
Just, just to be with you
Give me, give me, a chance to be near you
Because, because I love you
Because, because I love you

Sudo, I'd love to have one of those even today!
That'd be way cool... we could fix it up with pontoons and go to the weenie roasts!

The first time that Dick Clark heard a Beatles' record he said, "I don't know what the heck you're so excited about...it'll never fly."

A bit of trivia about Kirby Grant (Sky King),
He died in an auto accident on his way to see the launch of the space shuttle "Challenger".
Geeze that was really not a good day for aviation, was it?
Oh, and Paw,
Interesting about the Beatles writing those songs. I had no idea.
What a lame performance by the "Stones" though. Egads, I was never a fan, but they are really awful on that cut...

The Beatles DID record I Want To Be Your Man though, didn't they? I'm thought it was on the live at Hollywood Bowl album.

Could it be because at the time Paul was with the red-headed, actress sister of one of them?

That is exactly the reason. Peter Asher of Peter and Gordon had a sister Jane that Paul was seeing for quite some time.

Uh, that it's George that's singing? I think Paul was the only one I've heard sing this one before...

I agree with George, that it's George singing, though the entire arrangement is interestingly different

Paw, thru most of it I could have forgotten it was the Beatles. Very interesting. Thanks for the 'rare' hearing for us.
