well Sudo just gave it away.

Kookie- Ed Byrne I think his real name was-

from 77 Sunset Strip

he even had a song about him -"Kookie ,Kookie, lend me your comb"

so why isn't that show available on dvd?

I can't believe I didn't know that. I use to have a poster of him on my wall.

Waysider,

From some of your posts I think you may most senior around here. I'm 54 and pert much the oldest I think. But Hiway29 has a much better memory than I do for a lot of TV shows back then... and I think I have a few years on him. Yep, Hiway29.. that was Ed Byrne and wow has hep (thanks for the correction, Rick) talk has changed.

OK.. I think they're all guessed now so back to a song from a TV show that ran in the 60's. It's of course, the Christmas episode. I wouldn't have known who the male singer was. Click HERE! and see what all you find familiar. Does anyone remember variety shows??

I think George is right. It's gotta be the Carol Burnett Show. Who else is in that sleigh ? I hear Vicki Lawrence, who owes her career to looking like Carol Burnett's sister. I guess harvey Korman is there too, though I can't pick out his voice.

I would have guessed Mel Torme, but Steve Lawrence seems more likely. And if it is Steve, then Edie Gorme must be in the sleigh too.

It's hard to distinguish voices when they're singing without more of a frame of reference.

And I do miss variety shows-American Idol does not count

Variety Shows I always dug were Dean Martin, Smothers Brothers, and Jackie Gleason. I wanted to like Red Skelton but never got it-though I remember a Freddie the freeloader Christmas special Red did that moved me.

Im older than sudo thinks, having turned 54 in August . YIKES

Well then maybe I am 3rd oldest. :)

I liked Red Skelton but it was for the person he was not the comedy so much.

This is one of my favorite quotes of his:

"Our principles are the springs of our actions. Our actions, the springs of our happiness or misery. Too much care, therefore, cannot be taken in forming our principles."

Yep, that would make me the oldest.

I still remember the whole neighborhood coming outside at the same time to catch a glimpse of Sputnik :(

Oh, it was Edd Byrnes(2 "d"s and an "s") Kookie was the nickname for his characters' real name which was Gerald LLoyd Kookson III.

I haven't looked at everything yet but wanted to say hi. I am chatting with a friend of my son's in CA and he just showed me one of his video's (he's a singer) which just reminds me how this cyberworld is so cool at times. Cause I just got done chatting with my son also there.

I will chat with y'all later. Whoever is still awake go to sleep now. :sleep1:

Plus I updated my Yahoo IM and I swear I must have done something interesting because all kinds of folks are popping up now.

Perhaps I should have paid more attention to whatever I said yes to.

Hey guys,

Quick.. George sent me one to post and its really good but first..naw.. it wasn't the Carol Burnette show.. Here's another clip from that show... same singers as in the last clip. Click HERE!

Sorry, Dude. I don't know if it's the clip or my sound system, but it sounds like everyone is singing underwater! No idea who they are.

George
