Well, it was good for the hair spray business since it seemed to take tons of the stuff to keep the helmet intact.
I didn't mean to imply that it was unattractive though. Marlo Thomas always looked good(at least after her nose job-I've seen pictures of her where she was sporting Danny Thomas' nose), and I'm sure you were lovely on your wedding day, helmet hair and all. How did you get the dress over the hair though?
Cowgirl, glad to see you posting themes! Sometimes renaming the file will work but other times it doesn't. Sudo, you need to send her that conversion program!

I must tell you I laughed so hard when I read your post and it was a welcomed one at that. Hadn't had one minute to look at the forum since daybreak but read your reply in my inbox and laughed out loud. :D
Here's the story of the getting the blouse off. And the story of putting on the wedding dress well it had a zipper in the back. :)
My hair was just like hers on my wedding day but it was loaded with stuff to keep it in place and I'd not considered that before I had it done and wore a blouse that had no opening but the head and I wanted to take that blouse with me on our honeymoon. So my mother cut the seam in the top of the blouse and after helping me remove it without messing up my hair she sewed it back together so I could take it with me. Geez, all that for a dadgum favorite blouse.
Moon Girl and Rick, yup on the MTM and I tell ya what I was hooked. ;)
Oh, and the last one I posted WAS Medical Center. Used to watch that every week...loved it! My clue (Dr Joe)...well, I remember one episode where there was this little boy who called him that the whole show....was one of the episodes that I remember the most. Thought someone else might have remembered it.
warning warning warning warning
Mr. Bluzie,
I was checking out this thread when I clicked on your name instead of the Nostalgia Thread last post posted thingy...
so, up came your profile and your birthdate... :o
and guess what????
we were born the same year
(but i'm older by a few months <_<)
NOW,
back to your regularly scheduled program
A La...I KNEW there was something special about you! And Hey! I get to say I'm younger! Hey, even if it's only a few months, I grab every opportunity to say "I'm Younger" that I get.
WOW, your right! But is that the vesion from the movie? Killer tune either way! Thanks Cowgirl!
Rick
I'm sure this will be combined into my last post (I hate how the new board does that) But, Cowgirl...you fit right in here, and I'm so glad to have you posting here! Thank you!
Did you know that Marlo Thomas had a birthday yesterday? How old do you think she was?? Would it surprise you to know that the alluring young lady we remember turned 68? Geeze.. as if I didn't need any more proof that I'm becoming an old man. At least Betty Boop is just as sexy as she was in the 1930's. Another young lady had her birthday yesterday, too. One that we all will remember wearing a bikini (and looking SO GOOD in it I might add) and dancing around go-go style. Anyone need a defimition of go-go as it pertained to the 1960's? Anyways, she turned 60 years old fer heaven's sake. Who am I talking about??? Why no other than.. Goldie.
So Rick.. you think we can get Cowgirl getting tunes, converting them with DMC, uploading them to your server and THEN posting them?? That's a lot to ask don't you think? But look at Chatty... you got HER to do that. Maybe. Juuuuust maybe Cowgirl can be talked into doing it too. Your Medical Center might have encouraged her but who's interested in a middle-of-the-day soap opera like Medical Center? Uh, or am I thinking about General Hospital? Oh, whatever!!!
Hey Cowgirl!!! Like Rick said... I've got a program for you. Actually... you can get it free HERE! but it converts MP3 files to WAV files and vice versa. It actually converts most ANY sound file to any other. IF you have an interest.. e-mail me at: dbdbdb@midsouth.rr.com and I can get you started. The tune you posted of Born Free?? I would have downloaded... edited it... renamed it... uploaded it to Rick's server and then posted it as.... well, just click HERE! and see that no information about the music is given. Now aren't *I* the clever one???
And Sudo....if Cowgirl needs a place to park her files, ya'll let me know, I'll give her space!
Rick
Sudo...ya know, using the conversion program that you have is cool. I THINK it will strip out the track info. So when converted, it will not show 6the name of the original track. But use at your own risk. :) :) :)
That option to remove the name from the music files is 'ID tags'. You can check to preserve them or not. Great freeware little program. Lookie... we're leaving town tomorrow morning. Going to Allentown, PA for Thanksgiving with Carol's side of the family. I'll probably be able to at least get on line and post but I just don't know how much as I'll have family obligations to fulfill. They'll have several coolers full of different kinds of beer from all over the world and none of my brothers-in-law are the kind of expert that *I* am on beer. Therefore.... I'll have lots of beer tasting and opinions to give. And as you might suspect... that's a lot of stress on a guy. I've got to get it just right to save face.
There will also be oysters to shuck. Oh, not those itsy-bitsy oysters they have up in New England. Gads no!! My brother-in-law Chee always brings 'em up from a secluded location in the Carolinas. Big... fat... sassy oysters. Ummmm... lots of obligations, Rick. But I'm counting on you to carry on. Get Kathy to help. I know you guys can DO IT!
So in leaving for the evening... if not a tad bit more.... let me leave you guys with another movie studio theme because... that's just the way I do things. Click HERE! and name the famous studio that always makes me think of The Three Stooges.
A La...I KNEW there was something special about you! And Hey! I get to say I'm younger! Hey, even if it's only a few months, I grab every opportunity to say "I'm Younger" that I get.
Rick
I call that being a brat! <_<
Sudo,
Yeah sure I'll help, it'd be my pleasure Sir. And it looks like Cowgirl is having some fun and I hope she stays around. And my goodness I know the answer to that link but heck if I can find it anywhere in my head to tell ya so maybe by the time you return I'll have found it. Have too much fun!
Cowgirl,
That's a wonderful song that I bet has a variety of memories associated to it. I love how songs will do that don't do?
Thanks for the dancing Stan and Ollie, Kathy. In my spare time I'm a member of the 'Sons of the Desert", the laurel and hardy appreciation society 'organized' by Stan and recently deceased author John Mccabe in the early 60's. Basically it's an excuse to get together and watch old L&H and other Hal Roach films. They have 'tents' all over the world , all named after L&H films. Here in LA it's the 'Way Out West' tent, and over the years, Dick Van Dyke, Chuck McCann, Orson bean and others have been members. It's actually in my spare spare time, since they meet about 5 times a year and I make it to maybe 2 of them.
Sudo, I hear that theme all the time and can't place it! I wonder why you think of the 3 Stooges , unless it's the current theme for Columbia pictures, where the Stooges made their shorts.
Marlo is 68??! yikes
Well, not only am I old , but I saw her on tv not long ago and still think she's hot, so I guess I'm officially old.I would have guessed 61 or 62 at best. That means she was 'That Girl' when she was 30, playing a young actress just starting out.
That is an Edelweiss isn't it? There is some romantic history to that flower I think. Although so far I can't tie a movie to that flower and song but I haven't given up yet. :)
WHOAAAAAAAAAAA, Hiway29 and ChattyKathy, you guys are good !!!
You got it, EDELWEISS from the "The Sound of Music"
Just to let you know the piece that i have playing here is not the original from the movie but a little rendition. It sure is a pretty piece!! After all these years I still never tire of hearing it!
Cool Cowgirl! And I looked that flower up for a bit of history which I thought I remembered it had. There's more but I must return to work now.
It's snowing outside. :)
The famous edelweiss of the Alps was the cause for what is supposedly the first legislation for plant protection. Growing high on steep slopes, it was a challenge to collect, and so became highly sought by male climbers as a gift and sign of devotion to their girlfriends. The German alpine club, to protect the plant (and also its members from undue climbing dangers), imposed fines for its collection.
Bluzeman and Sudo, I really appreciate your offer but I should let you know that I am NOT computer-savy, just ask my fiance (Goey) how compatible I am with computers, believe me it's not a pretty sight !!
To be totally honest with you, I checked out that site you posted and it's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over my head, I can't even begin to understand the lingo but I do thankyou!! When it came to deleting the title of the song I thought it was going to be as simple as maybe deleting the words and pushing a few buttons, HA !!

I used to watch the Mary Tyler Moore Show all the time. Ok, my mother was a tv and my father was a stereo. I grew up to be a moon girl.

Here's a rather nice picture I thought and it includes something dear to her. I think she's a classy lady myself.
Hiwayman,
Then perhaps my dancing pair brought a smile to you and that would be my hope for repayment for what your post did for me yesterday.
I did enjoy them as well as Abbot and Costello but couldn't get into the Stooges.
Moon Girl,
I knew it was rotten of me but I'll pay for my long weekend come Monday, still dancing I am! :)
