Hey Paw, saw Art Garfunkle on an interview program a few weeks ago, not sure when it was taped. He's a very articulate person, enjoyed seeing him. He talked about his part in S and G music over the years and I was surprised to hear how involved he was in production, not sure why. Guess I've listened to Paul Simon more. It was good. Looking forward to catching them out this way if I can.
'when you're in love, there's no time and no space. there's a permanent smile on your face...
and hey somewhere, you threw your fear in the sea of no cares...'
I'm really looking forward to them on Letterman tonight... Paul Simon paints such beautiful pictures with his words... and Art's voice... magic...
Ima, Paw... I don't really know of a S&G song I don't like, but The Boxer and America are my certain favorites... so many pictures, so many things to identify with...
We only mentioned about five songs on this thread and they played two of them.
When I went down to visit Plot in April I had goosebumps when I got on the NJ Turnpike. I was just singing, "counting the cars on the NJ Turnpike, they've all gone to look for America"
And yes Krys, the Boxer is one of my favorite songs of all time.

Yeah, I read it on the Internet news (forget which one) in the afternoon, too.
Anyway, loved the two choices of songs also. Could have listened to Paul play the guitar all night though; something very soothing about acoustic guitar played so beautifully.
Hey Tom, great idea. And if you want to give me a Xmas present, I need it by Nov 9...
anyone notice how they both have aged. you can see it on their faces, but certainly not hear it in their voices.
What a soothing tonic it would (will) be to go to one of the concerts.
I am not a concert going person. I think, other than when I was in twi and going to way prod concerts, and other than symphony orchestra concerts, I can only think of one other concert I've been to, and that was CCR, Credence Clearwater Revival, back in the late 1960s or early 1970s.
But this is one that I won't miss, if I can help it.
ya know... there are no "southern" venues listed on their site... ya think they're coming back out after the holidays? isn't he still married to Edie Brickell? (from Dallas)

ima,
That is one of my favorite lyrics. I love "The Boxer"
Bob Dylan did this song on his Self Portrait album (which is a great album, too) He imitates both Simon's and Garfunkel's voices... pretty cool
I was actually going to do a post identical to yours last night

"Good bye Rosie, Queen of Corona. . ."
When I was in NY for a while I always thought of this line when approaching the Corona subway stop in Queens.
"In the clearing stands a boxer
and a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders
of every glove
thats laid him down
or CUT him
till he cries out
in his anger and his shame
I am leaving, I am leaving
BUT THE FIGHTER STILL REMAINS"
Classic!!

Simon and Garfunkel is on.
And maybe even bigger.... an announcement by David Letterman that could be bigger news for Letterman fans than the S&G reunion.

Better than that Shell!
The s&g music is wonderful to hear again.
I wonder....what is the draw of their music? So many love it so much...what is it that draws us to it?

Letterman's got a longtime sweetie. She's six months pregnant. That's the announcement... or what I read earlier today it was.
He's apparently thinking about marrying her.
Won't stop him from flirting with beautiful female guests... like did you see him and Sharon Stone this week.... hotcha cha cha.
They were kissin like they were, well not like they would if they were married.
Letterman should be on in about a half hour here.

I'm on the MST, which is the same as PDT. I got the info from a standard news source. azcentral.com before I had even seen the show.
S and G were great. wish I could go to one of the concerts.

or perhaps you were looking for "THE SOUNDS OF SILENCE"!! :D-->
ps -- my favourite by them was "I Am An Island", if that is the correct name of that song. "The Boxer" is right up there too.
Where did the "good old days" go?? -->

Grand Rapids? Omaha? Uncasville, Connecticut?
Nothing in the Carolinas again. The closest is Nashville, 400 miles away. Who books these tours, anyway? Jeez.
The correct name of that song is "I Am A Rock."
