From what I've been seeing on UK news Twinks, many, many Britons would happily swap the 'orange man' for that sack of oatmeal mush, Keir Starmer...Farage 2026 !!

Nobody I know would agree with you, Allan. Starmer isn't very popular, Badenoch (other main party leader) even less so, Farage (fancies himself as orangeman's best buddy) is an extremist far right fool and not at all well thought of - but the orangeman is nationally hated.

We might be inching too far out on political thin ice.

If a political forum was to start on GSC, I would suggest the focus be on policies and not on politicians.

We had a Political forum on the GSC, and it almost shut down the entire site. It took many times more moderation than all the rest of the board put together. Pawtucket was about to shut down the entire GSC out of frustration, but elected to keep everything else and just jettison the politics- which is unnecessary anyway.
When 9-11 happened, a lot of people wanted to talk about it. That's how the politics board started, a board on 9-11, that expanded. But discussions got ugly, and posters didn't limit themselves to just mean posts in that board. Some followed other posters around and attacked them on threads that have nothing to do with politics, And so on. It made for a toxic environment. So, someone else agreed to moderate a purely political forum, and Paw jettisoned the one here. As I understand it, the other one lasted a few months, then fizzled out. I'm not sure why because I didn't follow it.

I actually agree, I've been temporarily banned for being less politically vehement than this lol....'orangeman' is simply name calling by those who have no better argument...peace out
Allan, I’m curious. Which UK news outlets you read/watch?
Well Nate, if you want to start getting 'political' about it, GB News is my favourite...ABC whether it be UK, USA or Australia is way too 'left leaning' for my taste.

Which is why I watch SKY and Fox amongst others...MSNBC, CBS, etc....are a running joke.

Thanks again to all for confirming that the toponymic conventions are being adhered to by countries outside the U.S. (Except Canada, kinda)
The Gulf in question was named Gulf of Mexico long before Mexico became a sovereign nation state. The earliest extant map with this place name is dated to 1550. It never had anything to do with political borders or ideology. Anyone can find out more by "searching again." (A fun coincidental fact: the last time RESEARCH meant "search again" was around the year 1550.)
Other notable disputed bodies of water are the Persian Gulf (Arabian Gulf) and the Sea of Japan (East Sea).

I actually agree. Didn't pay mind to this thread earlier and no one reported it, but we need to be consistent.

So, the rule at the GSC is, NO POLITICS.

"a running joke" is pretty much name calling as well.

I didn’t say it. You did.
A simple question. Nothing political about it. Thanks for the answer.

Only for updates on Canada.
To recap,
Thanks again to all for confirming that the toponymic conventions are being adhered to by countries outside the U.S. (Except Canada, kinda)

This list should include the Cuyahoga River, which has also been known as the Burning River.
Reference: Was in Cleveland when it burned.
